While predicting the future is impossible, the Morgan Trojans are looking like the team to beat. They've been consistently outperforming teams from the 6A and 5A classifications, and while other 3A teams may pose a challenge, here are the squads to watch:

Morgan

Morgan's odds look great this year, and especially when you return a player like [player_tooltip player_id='2388587' first='Bracken' last='Saunders']. Morgan is a skilled team and program, for that matter, as they have been putting together solid teams for many years. Although Saunders is not the only good player on the team, he is going to lead the way, and it would not be surprising if he leads the state in scoring as well. Another player that you need to watch is [player_tooltip player_id='1978925' first='Mason' last='Williams']. This kid is good, and he has above-the-rim playing ability as well. He has been shooting the ball better, and he is poised to have a breakout season. This duo is ready to give opposing teams fits.

Game to Watch: 12/19 vs. Provo

American Leadership

Although they lost one of their best players and one of the best players in the state, AHHS is still one of the teams to beat in 3A. They have some key returners coming back. One player who had himself a great off-season and showed some of that high IQ and shot-making ability in the Utah Top is [player_tooltip player_id='2422947' first='Jackson' last='Black']. Black was bringing the ball up comfortably as he is transitioning to a lead guard, but he was also hitting shots when he was open from all over. With range, Jackson is going to use that range to open up lanes for himself and also for others on the team looking to make things happen inside. The other returner that could erupt this season is [player_tooltip player_id='2277256' first='James' last='Matsen']. Look for him to assert himself this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1975956' first='Carter' last='Mason'] and Stone Mortensen are two players who had strong junior seasons and have the potential to make a significant impact this upcoming year. Their performances will need to elevate to compete with the top teams. They begin their season right away against Pine View, which will serve as a good test as they look to find their rhythm this season.
