The Preseason Class A Player of the Year leader is headed to Southwest Minnesota State and we think he has a real chance to be in the Mr. Basketball top ten list towards the end of the season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2851170' first='Jack' last='Welch'] of Pelican Rapids (Sr). Welch is the top big in Class A basketball and he is headed to Concordia-St. Paul. He took his team to the state tournament last season and Jack enters the season as the preseason number one. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2126128' first='Isaiah' last='Asuma'] of Cherry (Jr). Isaiah is the best prospect in Class A basketball. I think he is good enough to lead the Tigers back to the state title game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1601068' first='Noah' last='Asuma'] of Cherry (Sr). He might be known as a home run hitter but Noah is also a top basketball player in Class A hoops. He will likely have to use his strength to play in the paint but he hits tons of threes too.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2823917' first='Gunner' last='Liebl'] of Dawson-Boyd (Sr). A defending state champ that opened eyes at state with his play, and then went for about 30 this June in a Stars win over the Comets which also opened eyes with a career memory.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1628768' first='Connor' last='Duden'] of Red Lake County (Sr). A Bemidji State signed guard that took his team to state last season with 31 wins. Duden is one of the best guards in the state and more importantly, one of the toughest. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Class AA Preseason Second Team</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>AJ Bessler of Nevis (Sr). Nevis goes for their 7th straight state tournament trip and Bessler has been going to them year after year. Averaged 19 and 11 last season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2369272' first='Tyler' last='Eklund'] of Braham (Sr). Tyler averaged 27 points and nine assists a game last year for a 22 win team and with numbers like that, his team could win state and Tyler will be like..... second team? This is one of the most explosive players in Class A and he will let you know about it! Might even talk trash on Instagram some. Dalton averaged 22 points, four rebounds and five assists a game last season for a team that was 25-5 and brings so much back.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2386616' first='Gavin' last='Bauer'] of Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (Soph). On a balanced team that lost just one game, Goegen scored 16 points a game. Bush will be playing for South Dakota State football some time soon but also a top hooper on a top Class A team. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2842383' first='Sam' last='Rupnow'] of Liberty Classical (Sr). One of the most explosive players in Class A - Sam is likely winning the Class A dunk contest - the Liberty Classical player scored 27 a game last season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2877054' first='Asher' last='Wieberdink'] of Central Minnesota Christian (Jr).
