It's rare to see a game of this magnitude on a Monday, but with the holidays approaching, teams are playing back-to-backs, and we're seeing matchups we wouldn't normally expect in a regular pre-season. Let's break it down.

The Start of the Game

I really like how the Vikings started the game, running an Iverson Set that featured numerous touches, ultimately ending with a deep paint touch for Oliver Mossman, who had a significant weight advantage over Krew Fotheringham. Although the Vikings didn't convert on the first play, they displayed energy and momentum on both ends from the opening tip-off. Defensively [player_tooltip player_id='1598261' first='Jaxon' last='Brown'] gets the defense started with a steal.

Although Lone Peak didn't let the opening turnover rattle them, they remained composed. In their third possession and first clean set, they executed a very impressive double lob. It appeared off, as Fotheringham received an off-target pass. As he prepared to shoot, everyone froze, and that's when [player_tooltip player_id='1768205' first='Jayden' last='Hughes'] came flying in from the corner, taking the screen and soaring through the air to set the tone with a thunderous dunk. Then, soon after, [player_tooltip player_id='1724367' first='Saxon' last='Young'] took over and hit two straight three-pointers after a pair of free throws.

Impressive Play

[player_tooltip player_id='1724367' first='Saxon' last='Young'], Lone Peak

When it comes to on-ball wiggle and shooting off the bounce, Young has to be included among the best in the state, regardless of class. He was impressive all night, displaying a knack for creating separation and possessing exceptional shooting ability. Young is a high-caliber prospect who should be receiving significant attention from top college programs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1768205' first='Jayden' last='Hughes'], Lone Peak

If you look at the scoresheet, you might think Hughes had a very minimal night, but when you watched the game, you realized that his length and playmaking ability had PG on their heels. He defends well and has just been making some basketball plays that do not get recorded on the stat sheet.

[player_tooltip player_id='1724365' first='Crew' last='Fotheringham'], Lone Peak

Krew Fotheringham consistently impacts the game on both ends. His defensive prowess is amplified by his length, which he also leverages offensively to shoot over defenders. His three three-pointers were a testament to his abilities, solidifying his status as a Division 1 prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125357' first='Brennan' last='Blackett'], Pleasant Grove

The player demonstrates a quick first step, indicating potential for future growth. His development is still in progress, but he already showcases good ball-handling skills, moving effectively without the ball, and scoring effectively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1724363' first='Preston' last='White'], Pleasant Grove

[player_tooltip player_id='1724363' first='Preston' last='White'] demonstrates a knack for attacking the basket and his strong free-throw shooting could be a significant asset. When combined with his elite shooting ability, White has emerged as a key player for Pleasant Grove, capable of consistently contributing to the team's scoring output.

Overview

Lone Peak is a true contender in 6A. they have the right lead guard in [player_tooltip player_id='1724367' first='Saxon' last='Young'] and they have a lot of length starting with Fotheringham and then you go to Hughes and Broadhead. They play a fun style of ball and their iso players can go get them buckets.

Pleasant Grove demonstrates a strong work ethic and possesses a roster full of talented players. Their potential for growth throughout the season is significant. Prestin White has shown promise, and the combination of [player_tooltip player_id='2125357' first='Brennan' last='Blackett'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1598261' first='Jaxon' last='Brown'] could form a formidable trio, adding an exciting dynamic to the team's performance.
