About Aguirre: One of the smoothest all-around offensive weapons in the state, Aguirre makes everything look easy on that end of the floor. He knows how to get to his spots off the dribble in the mid-range, is an excellent 3-point shooting threat, and a high IQ, talented playmaker with great vision. His ability to create quality looks on nearly every possession, either for himself or his teammates, is rivaled by few in the state.

Why he can win Mr. Basketball: Aguirre is one of the best all-around players in the state, and Ankeny is a team that could surprise teams this season. If he's able to lead the Hawks to the state tournament, and they can make some noise there, he'll most certainly be on the radar of voters. He's going to get plenty of attention on a nightly basis playing in the CIML.
