CIAC Underclassmen: Wings to Watch

The 6'4" has a good frame, a plus wingspan, and above the rim athleticism. He's a tough cover in transition, when he gets downhill and attacks the rim off the bounce. His strength allows him to bully smaller defenders around the rim, but he also has a good amount of skill on the perimeter. Smith High School</em>, has nice size on the wing and a skillset that he should be able to build on in the coming years. He's long, which allows him to be a disruptive defender, particularly in passing lanes. He also uses his length to his advantage as a finisher, showing touch and some creativity around the rim. He's a big, ball-handling guard that has the ability to score it at multiple levels, but also shows an advanced feel for the game as a creator. He continues to impress with his ability to knock down shots from behind the arc, makes an impact with his high motor, and does a nice job of guarding in the back-court, where his effort level creates plenty of turnovers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["2969350"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-691cd03be654d"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Trail, a freshman out of <em>Notre Dame-West Haven High School</em>, has a chance to be one of the better long term prospects in his class with his combination of size, length, athleticism, and motor. He can really get out and run the floor, uses his length to his advantage as a paint finisher, and plays hard on both ends of the floor as a rebounder. A high motor wing, he does a great job of attacking the glass, particularly on the offensive end of the floor, where he's adept at keeping plays alive and collecting second chance points.
