Sancomb has accomplished it all aside from back to back state titles and PoY titles. While there's a couple other players in WV that could give him a run for state poy, he's easily the top dog in this region. I look for him to start developing as a shooter to expand his game to becoming a complete player for the next level. He's literally the closest thing to a walking talking triple double.

State Tournament Qualifier Prediction

Williamstown: Despite losing one of the more memorable and talented group of seniors, Williamstown still returns several experienced players including shooters like [player_tooltip player_id='3135684' first='Dominic' last='Strcula'] and [player_tooltip player_id='3135685' first='Wyatt' last='Powell'] as well as post/forward [player_tooltip player_id='2303398' first='Tyler' last='Keiser']. You can look for Sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='2444040' first='Breck' last='Allen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2918682' first='Cedric' last='Davis'], who both gained valuable varsity experience to possibly crack the starting lineup as they could be the two best athletes on the roster. Like other regions, Williamstown is one of the favorites until someone proves otherwise.

Wheeling Central: This is obviously the easiest pick of the whole state with [player_tooltip player_id='2211906' first='Eli' last='Sancomb'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1851975' first='Max' last='Olejasz'] still on the roster. But the supporting cast with [player_tooltip player_id='2421837' first='Luke' last='Sancomb'] leading the charge is experienced and sharp fundamentally as the Maroon Knights always are. Sancomb and Olejasz pose huge matchup problems for nearly everyone on their schedule and certainly for teams in this region. Still the favorites to cut down nets in Charleston.

Darkhorse

Doddridge has a ton of experience, including state tournament experience, as well as depth down the roster at the guard and wing spots with Jerod Trent, [player_tooltip player_id='2296622' first='Landon' last='Thomas'], Will Adams and Josh DeHaven. Add in 6'7" true pivot Jaden Solomon and they become a real threat to advance. The Bulldogs seem to have solid pieces at every position with solid shooters and athletic wings who make plays. On paper they are the obvious darkhorse and in some circles would be favored over Williamstown as a favorite to advance. Tyler, Oak Glen and Ravenswood could all make arguments for darkhorse consideration returning senior laden lineups, however it will take a really strong finish to the season to gain the momentum necessary.

Regional Roundup

[player_tooltip player_id='1851975' first='Max' last='Olejasz'] has been offered by several football programs as well as basketball and actually has Division I offer in football. But look for his basketball stock to skyrocket by March and get hot amongst MEC teams.

Ravenswood coach Mick Price was recently featured in a newspaper article that highlighted his recent battle and victory over pancreatic cancer. Price is one of the winningest coaches in WV high school basketball history and has forever carved his name in basketball lore.

Tyler Consolidated's head coach Mark Winters played for above mentioned Luke & [player_tooltip player_id='2211906' first='Eli' last='Sancomb']'s father, Danny at Wheeling Jesuit University where Danny elevated that program to a top 25 national ranking. Coach Sancomb has since moved on to his current head coaching job at California University at Pennsylvania.
