These are my pre-season top five teams in PIAA 1A classification.

5. Serra Catholic

Serra is a team who could make a lot of noise in 1A and should be a team who makes it to the second weekend of the state tournament if everything goes as planned. [player_tooltip player_id='2880995' first='Mark' last='Johnson'] is on pace to be one of the best guards in 1A basketball. Also think they are a team who can make it to the Pete in late February.

4. Chester Charter

The Sabers look to build off a successful year one of the Lonnie Diggs era. There is a ton of depth on this team with the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='3033125' first='TJ' last='Jones'], [player_tooltip player_id='2427251' first='Nieem' last='Gregory'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2430724' first='Dom' last='Miller'] are a nice core who has experience at the varsity level and have played in numerous big games during their career so far. I think they should run the table Bicentennial league.

3. York Country Day

York Country Day is coming off of a two loss season and looks to run the table in district three. [player_tooltip player_id='2774556' first='Elijah' last='Slaughter'] the rangy in-between guard is slowly starting to scratch the surface in his development and I believe he is on pace to have a big sophomore campaign and they will go however far he can take them.

2. Sankofa Freedom Academy

Sankofa looks to be one of best 1A schools in eastern Pennsylvania and is coming off a 2nd place finish last season. Nafis Dubose looks is a tough gameplan for opposing teams due to the smash mouth style of basketball he likes to play. [player_tooltip player_id='3029141' first='Nasir' last='Brown'] & [player_tooltip player_id='3029139' first='Yasir' last='Johnson'] should see more increased roles and have the potential to be on the all public leagues teams when they are released in the spring. Terrence Fortson & [player_tooltip player_id='3033140' first='Samad' last='Geary-West'] brings a lot to the table and a player who gives Sankofa extended depth. Sankofa should be one of the contenders in the public league.

The Neighborhood Academy

The defending PIAA state champions look to defend their crown and repeat as champs. [player_tooltip player_id='2916460' first='Kedron' last='Gilmore'] looks to step up in the offense with the departure of Courtney Wallace and think he could be one of the better guards in western Pennsylvania. Julius Page Jr. and Eli Cunningham make an exciting young duo for the years to come. I think they could make another deep run this upcoming season and also have the ability to repeat as WPIAL 1A champions.
