Expert Analysis

A sleeper hiding in Class 1A for a team looking to make district and state playoff runs, Slaughter has continued to emerge after a promising freshman season for the Greyhounds. He stands out immediately with his blossoming size and length for the backcourt, combining with fluid athleticism and budding explosiveness to make for an alluring overall physical package. Slaughter is a slithery driver and finisher when attacking downhill, and he shines in transition both filling the lane and pushing the break himself. His upside almost certainly lies at the D1 level if he’s able to grow as a shooter and get more battle-tested against opponents who can challenge him athletically.

York Country Day was upset in the District 3 1A semifinals a season ago and then faced the eventual state runner-up in a tough first round PIAA state playoff game, a tough way to lose your only two games of the season after starting 21-0. With Slaughter coming in a year older with a great off-season behind him, the Greyhounds are set to get back on track to compete for a championship. Elijah uses his long frame to be a pesky defender, as he racks up steals and blocks at a consistent rate. He’s good when attacking the basket and has a nice pull-up game. As he continues to expand his range and becomes a three-level scorer, Slaughter will be a name to look for in the coming season.

Thanks to his athleticism, high motor and scoring skills, this Swiss Army knife stuffed the stat book during his freshman season (10 ppg. and 4 rpg.). Slaughter can score at all three-levels, competes on the boards at both ends and is a creative passer. His quick burst and tight handles enable Slaughter to blow past his man and put pressure on the help defense. Once Slaughter gets downhill, he can navigate his way to the cup for a lay-in or kick out to open teammates. If opponents elect to sag off Slaughter, he will drain threes all game. Slaughter is an effective open court scoring prospect too. A host of those fast break opportunities are jump started by steals and deflections Slaughter generates. In 2024-25 Slaughter notched a season high 19 points (1 three) against Newport.

Slaughter touched the game in all facets for his Sideline Cancer squad. He is gangling in-between guard who showed some promise playing on or off the ball. He was relentless getting paint touches on the attack. He found ways to get to the foul line. Slaughter used his length on the defensive side of the ball. I really liked his motor and found ways to stay relevant in the game. Hoping he can add some muscle to his frame in the coming years. Looking forward to see how he tracks as a prospect over the coming seasons.
