September 27th-28th I attended the annual SoCal Fall Prep Classic at Santiago Canyon College in Orange, CA. We had four local teams rep the event and most of them held their own quite well.

Here were the Top Guards

[player_tooltip player_id='2955337' first='Titus' last='McNair'] Perry

A scoring lead guard with a high IQ. He is already playing a little on varsity and contributing off the bench. He is a good passer who can score it plus make plays. He made a few needle threaders and has a good pace about him. Look for him to play more and more every year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1333653' first='Christopher' last='Brookins'] Bella Vista Prep

A quick on quick pure point guard has a dimer badge. He had a bunch of assists every game with multiple needle threaders and will drive and kick it to a teammate. He will score using his incredible speed bursting past his defenders. He will score with step back threes, floaters to get to the basket and runners.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146175' first='LJ' last='Diamond'] Perry

One of the more athletic guards at the event will throw it down way above the rim. He will fill it up with off the dribble or catch threes, speed drives and he is a quick second jumper on the glass. He had a few needle threaders in traffic with either hand and will drive and kick it. He is a good on-ball defender but also competitive to block shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555181' first='Adrian' last='Higuera'] Millennium

An improving scoring point guard handles most of the ball pressure and makes plays. He is more of a natural scorer with blow by bursts to the basket using his speed and tighter handle to the basket. He also loves to shoot it from mid-range with fall aways and he will hit the three.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323611' first='Jerrance' last='Howard'] Perry

A son of a coach knows how to play the game. He has a strong frame with skill. He can get a step on his defender and burst downhill and then nail a three off the catch on the next play. He has a polished middle game with pull-ups and will move the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2171184' first='Gage' last='Bartlett'] Bella Vista Prep

A good sized lead guard can handle some of the lead guard role plus also play off the ball and shoot it. He will rattle in threes off the catch one by one and the lefty gets hot very quickly. He can ball fake into a dribble drive and score it with layups using either hand.

[player_tooltip player_id='2223522' first='Kolby' last='Barnes'] Perry

A scoring lead guard with length and some size. He can make some plays but is more wired to score. He can crossover his defender and burst into a layup. He can handle contact and score thru a bump. He can dunk it on the break and hit the three off the catch. When LJ sits the first 9 games, Kolby will be very pivotal to the teams success.

[player_tooltip player_id='2207302' first='Ethan' last='Butler'] Phhoenix Prep OTE (Pictured)

A good sized guard or combo is one of the shooters of the team. He also handles some of the lead guard role and can play on or off the ball. He is a true three point sniper off the catch and can also pull-up from mid. He has good court vision and keeps his head up at all times.
