The high school season in Southern California is just under a month away and we wanted to take some time to shine a spotlight on some players who are poised to make a big leap as players and recruits. Below we take a look at five sophomore shooting guards and wings who are poised for a breakout season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2948295' first='Bryson' last='Davis'] | Paraclete

Davis jumped on our radar at a spring Best of SoCal Showcase and he quickly popped off the floor as a quick twitch athlete with elite burst and the ability to finish above the rim in transition and half-court settings. The 6-foot-3 wing out of the high desert hasn't gotten a ton of eyes on him yet but his combination of skill, motor and athleticism will make him a known commodity soon.

[player_tooltip player_id='2750252' first='Carter' last='Parker'] | Vasquez | Pictured

Parker is a regular on the camp and showcase circuit and typically has impressive offensive showings at those events but playing at a smaller public school an hour-plus away from Los Angeles makes him a lesser-known prospect on the regional scene. Nevertheless, Carter is a high volume scoring guard who can really shoot the ball from three-point range. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard/small forward is a catch and shoot and off-bounce shooting threat with deep and consistent range.

[player_tooltip player_id='2948298' first='Isaiah' last='Williamson'] | Los Alamitos

Williamson spent most of his freshman year on the Los Alamitos junior varsity team as the Griffins were stacked with upper class talent that resulted in a CIF Southern Section Division 1 championship. With the departure of all of those upperclass leaders, Williamson finds himself in a position to be a major contributor as a sophomore. The 6-foot-3 wing is as versatile as they come as an underclass prospect. His feel for the game is impressive, complete with creating feel, high level vision and passing ability, and an unorthodox but effective scoring package. Williamson is a face-up shooter, driver and paint finisher who can make plays or take over a game as a scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2948300' first='Jeremiah' last='Agbahowe'] | St. Bernard

When it comes to underclass athletic slashers and finishers with intriguing physical tools, the St. Bernard sophomore is among the best in those areas. At 6-feet-6 with a 6-foot-10 wingspan, quick twitch athleticism and the ball skills to attack the rim and score in the paint, Agbahowe is a serious transition scoring threat who is also a "dirty work" guy in his willingness to crash the offensive glass, defend multiple positions and impact the game as a cutter off the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2948287' first='Zion' last='Lanier'] | Notre Dame

Lanier was another talented freshman who was able to develop with live game reps on the junior varsity level but will be a contributor on a top 3 team in the state this season. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard brings a smooth scoring feel to the floor complete with mid-range and three-point shooting ability on or off the ball and a savvy handle with changes of speed and direction to allow him to get into the lane and score.
