GASO Duncanville Fall Tour: Early Top Performers

The 2025 GASO Fall Tour in Duncanville was a big event this past Saturday, featuring a good number of talented players and top high school teams that I watched for the first time. In this article, I'll be highlighting five early top performers who truly stood out to me to set the tone of the type of day it was going to be.    [player_tooltip player_id='2854586' first='Austin' last=''] Goosby is a 6'5” guard that showcased his full potential during the game against Waxahachie. Offensively, he frequently found himself near the basket, creating high-percentage scoring opportunities in various ways. [player_tooltip player_id='2854586' first='Austin' last='']'s perimeter shooting is confident, as he effectively finds himself open from range. In transition he poses as a lob threat that skillfully fills his lanes and becomes an easy target for quick points. When handling the ball, he demonstrated the ability to make precise skip passes which generated quick offense for his teammates. [player_tooltip player_id='2854586' first='Austin' last=''] also excelled in the pick-and-roll, distributing dump passes to rolling teammates and operating in the mid-range to pull up for jumpers. Throughout the game, he controlled the offensive pace by changing his speed with the ball. Defensively, his length allowed him to easily jump passing lanes, resulting in steals that initiated transition opportunities for his team. Additionally, [player_tooltip player_id='2854586' first='Austin' last=''] altered shots at the rim and covered ground on the perimeter against the opposing Waxahachie players.     [player_tooltip player_id='2126446' first='Mustafa' last='Mohamed'] was a brutal force in the paint for Melissa against Waxahachie early in the day. Offensively he sealed his opposing defenders in the post making himself a target as he capitalized those opportunities by finishing strong at the basket. With the ball in his hands in the interior he was fouled at times getting multiple trips to the free throw line. Throughout the game I was impressed with his effort on the glass securing possessions for Melissa especially defensively making an impact in the rebounding totals. Mustafa is an important part of the interior for Melissa as he just transferred from St.Paul this year moving to Texas recently. He protected the rim providing a good presence in the interior against Waxahachie.     [player_tooltip player_id='1560943' first='Michael' last='Gatewood'] is a left-handed scoring guard that demonstrated his ability to find his spots and score whenever he wanted. He went on scoring streaks in effort to try help his team regain control of the game against Melissa. Throughout the game, Michael consistently made an impact on both ends, showcasing his determination and resilience. He continued to score multiple times showing his offensive skills with the ball in his hands, delivering a spectacular offensive performance for Waxahachie. Within the offensive flow, Gatewood made precise passes in the half court, placing many of his passes in the shooting pockets of his teammates who were positioned to shoot off the catch.     Zyere Caesar showcased his skills as a big man capable of spacing the floor on offense by successfully making multiple three-pointers against Dallas Carter. He also demonstrated his offensive prowess by converting putback opportunities for Tyler Legacy on numerous occasions. Caesar's ability to consistently seek the ball, particularly in the post, effectively sealed his opposing defenders deep within the interior. When receiving the ball in the post he created close shots for himself making some of those attempts throughout the game.     Amarion [player_tooltip player_id='2382176' first='Hunter' last=''] displayed remarkable energy and activity on both ends of the court during his game against Tyler Legacy. Offensively, he demonstrated his ability to create his own shot and capitalize on opportunities off the catch. He consistently cuts within the half-court after passing the ball, ensuring the offense remains dynamic. After defensive stops, he actively sought to initiate transition opportunities, resulting in successful conversions of points for himself or his teammates. Defensively, [player_tooltip player_id='2382176' first='Hunter' last=''] effectively engaged with opposing players, applying ball pressure to ball handlers and intercepting passes with high activity.
