This weekend I attended the inaugural AZ Hoops JAMboree presented by Marcel Reece at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa. There were two brackets of 16 each with 32 total teams. I watched 24 teams and here was my rundown of the event.

4th Team

[player_tooltip player_id='2337138' first='Jadd' last='Agha'] Phoenix Country Day

One of the top three point shooters in the class and the AIA for all forwards. He has a super quick trigger with range. He gets the ball off in a blink of an eye before the defense can close out. He rebounds well and he is a sneaky good passer. A big season is coming for the skilled junior.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986797' first='Jase' last='Benjamin'] San Tan Charter

A powerful wing forward who can play above the rim and dunk it on the break. He scores it with mid-range jumpers, tough layups and even hook shots. He rebounds at a high clip off the glass and will push it on the break. He handles it well and he can make plays up the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432574' first='Terrance' last='Byrd'] Sandra Day O'Connor

One of the top athletes in the sophomore class is a big bodied wing forward with feel and a real handle. He can push the ball up the court like a point guard and he can make a play. He is a downhill attacker who can literally poster dunk in traffic. He is a defensive player as he rebounds at a good clip and blocks shots off the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id='2628886' first='Austin' last='Cooper'] Willow Canyon (Pictured)

A high motored power forward is very effective around the basket and he is their dunkers spot/layup finisher. He has good hands to catch tough passes in traffic and goes up with some springs. He rebounds everything with his long arms, motor and athleticism.

[player_tooltip player_id='1323296' first='Matt' last='Delgado'] Boulder Creek

A long wing forward who can score and defend. He is a natural attacker with long strides with a nice handle and some vertical pop. He can score it in traffic with his length and size plus step out and shoot the three off the catch or pull. He makes smart reads and he will end up defending and playing every single position for the Jaguars.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482211' first='Noah' last='Gloor'] Higley

A combo lead guard is a deep three point shooter with real range from beyond the parking lot. The ball comes off of his hands in a blink of an eye and he comes with confidence. He is a better passer then he gets credited with and he will score with offensive rebound put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490238' first='JD' last='Jones'] Phoenix Country Day

A thicker wing forward who loves getting downhill using his frame. He will score with pull-ups from mid-range, threes off the catch, he will crossover into a drive where he scores thru the contact or gets fouled. He collects steals, rebounds and he will also shadow the best player on the opposing team with impressive lateral quickness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432454' first='Sekou' last='Sackor'] Centennial

A combo guard is a high level athlete who is top-tier defender on the ball. He rebounds the ball at a good clip and he is a good passer with some impressive pocket passes on the weekend. He will score it with catch threes, quick athletic drives and he is a stud in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='2387517' first='Jachin' last='Reynolds'] San Tan Charter

A long and twitchy power forward is a little undersized but he is an out of area rebounder and shot blocker. He will take quick long strides to the basket with very little steps. He is a big time transition scorer and he is the #1 shot blocker of any small school player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2145741' first='Elias' last='Riley'] Deer Valley

An athletic bigger scoring point guard is an impressive downhill scorer. He has a quick burst he uses to the basket and has a real layup package with plus body control in the air. He will shoot it from mid-range and handles ball pressure as well. He can defend a few positions for the team and rebounds well for the undersized team.

[player_tooltip player_id='2681054' first='Jude' last='Rose'] Mesa Mountain View

A scoring point guard made the move from Mesa HS. He handles the bulk of the ball pressure and plays a cerebral game. He is undersized but he is tough, fast and shifty. He has a tough pull-up and can get a step on his defender and finish with euro steps and smartly changes speeds so well. He will hit the three plus pull-up from mid-range.

[player_tooltip player_id='3005976' first='Michael' last='Thomas'] Higley

A newcomer for me is an athletic scoring guard who can shoot the three. He looks like a possible 3 and D type down the road. He will rebound and block shots plus he is an athletic on-ball defender. He can also get to the basket with some quickness. He is a nice pickup from Chicago.
