2027s to Have Eyes On

There are a lot of student athletes truly coming into their own in Texas while entering the back half of their high school careers this season. Below are a handful of players that I expect to have big impacts and to keep ascending through their senior years.    Kenrick is a tenacious, playmaking guard that can impact the game for his squad in a multitude of ways. His awareness is off the charts on both ends and he's often the first to loose balls because of his anticipation and quick hands. His stellar footwork allows him to get to his spots on the floor with ease and rapidly adjust when he comes across tougher defenders. He's got a lightning first step, but never seems to be in a rush or hurry to get his shot off which serves him well - he gets great looks at the basket frequently for himself or a teammate because he never settles on a bad shot. His vision on the fast break is lethal - if you're running the floor and hustling, he's going to reward you with a pinpoint pass on your way to an easy bucket.     Daniel is an extremely quick, shifty point guard with a rapid release and what seems like unlimited juice in his tank. His hustle never stops on either end of the floor and his playmaking ability is next level, leading to countless good looks at the basket for his teammates. His speed really opens up the floor, with most defenders not having the ability to keep up and getting quickly frazzled - causing chaos and confusion for the opposing defense overall. His spot-up jumper is one of the best I've seen in recent competition. He displays the ability to rise and release from nearly anywhere on the offensive side of the floor with impressive accuracy. He's a menace on the defensive end as well, frequently picking passes and creating turnovers for the opposition.     Kerrington is a skilled, hustling big man that can move like a guard and defend all 94 feet. He's the first on the floor in loose ball situations and he has no problem coming out past the three point line to defend if he's assigned to a versatile opposing big. He gets to the line frequently and never shies away from any sort of contact - often creating opportunities for himself in the process. His touch is excellent for a big man and he knows how to use the glass to his advantage. His shooting range extends beyond the arc and he's basically a nightmare to defend for his opponents. He's a handful on the defensive end as well, using his length to rack up blocks and hoard all the boards for himself.     Jordan is a calm, skilled guard that will tear his opponents apart piece by piece almost surgically. He thinks through his next steps every time - never appearing stressed or rushed even in high-pressure situations. His zen-like approach rubs off on his teammates as well, creating a unified executing unit that's not easy for any opponent to deal with. He's a lights out shooter from three and has a high arc on his jumper which allows him to sink shots over even the lengthiest opposition. His ballhandling is fantastic and he has great footwork to go along with it. One of my favorite things about his game - he's not afraid to put his body on the line for his team, taking charges often and with impressive efficiency. His pump fake is next level, frequently getting defenders off their feet and allowing him to use his patience for them to pass so he has a wide open look at the basket.     Adam is a smart, skilled guard that leaves it all on the floor for himself and his squad. He can impact the game in so many different ways and he's not afraid to put his body on the line and do the dirty work - which coaches love. He's an incredibly accurate shooter and he always seems to be in the right spots on the offensive side of the floor, regularly racking up put-backs and second chance opportunities. He's collected and calm under pressure on both ends and he's long enough to be a persistent problem on the glass for his opponents. He has a beautiful touch on his floaters in the lane and he's genuinely a fun player to watch because he makes a big impact while doing all the little things right.
