WI Freshman Showcase: Team 11 Evaluations

Seidl had his jump shot humming on Saturday as he swished one three-point basket after another for Team 11. His smooth jumper immediately stood out as he buried shot after shot in an outing against Team 8. Seidl had four triples in the contest and did an excellent job of working to get himself open and once the ball got into his hands, he wasted no time in putting up his accurate shots. Seidl has good size, a good feel for the game and a very good perimeter shot, traits that will serve him well during his prep career at Appleton East.     Although small, Michalkiewicz is a quick, pesky defender who can put a lot of pressure on opposing ball handlers. Offensively, Michalkiewicz showed off his deft ball-handling and passing skills while also flashing a solid feel for the game. The son of former Saint Mary Catholic and Edgewood University guard David Michalkiewicz, Nolan can run a team as a point guard and does a solid job of locating open teammates or taking advantage of his own scoring chances.     Lanky and still growing, Lawton is a backcourt prospect who showed well in virtually every aspect of the game at the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase in Appleton. He handled the ball, made good decisions, involved his teammates and played inspired defense. The younger brother of former Notre Dame Academy and current Washington University (Missouri) standout Emmett Lawton, Grant Lawton looks to have a very promising future ahead of him with the Redbirds' program. His best attribute at this point might be attacking the rim in the open court.     One of a handful of Illinois players who took part in the Prep Hoops Wisconsin Showcase, Arceo plays with physicality, particularly on the defensive end of the court. His sturdy frame allowed him to get into the lane off the bounce and score from mid range and at the rim. The Burlington Central prospect appears to have a solid future ahead of him as a wing.     Viroqua has a good-looking young forward in its program in Schwarz, who hit the glass hard on both ends while also showing the ability to score from outside the three-point arc. Already blessed with good size, Schwarz also competed with good skill and a solid understanding of the game. His versatility in scoring inside and outside will be a big plus for Viroqua over the next several seasons.     Another strong backcourt prospect from Fond du Lac, Eeg and future high school teammate Nolan Michalkiewicz formed a solid backcourt duo for Team 11. Like Michalkiewicz, Eeg is quick and a very feisty defender. Eeg utilized multiple ball fakes to free himself up from defenders and showed the ability to score from deep and with short shots in the lane.     Part of a very good incoming freshman class at Sun Prairie West, Malone scored well at the rim in transition while also showing the ability to utilize his length and mobility to guard on the other end of the court. Malone is blessed with stellar size and athleticism for such a young player and figures to be a big part of the future at Sun Prairie West as he continues to add strength and round out his game.
