<p>While the nation rested Labor Day weekend two seniors from the greater Knoxville area finally put their college recruitments to rest. Both <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2166129' first='Alexander' last='Leeth']</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2358309' first='Jonathan' last='Woodlee']</strong> verbally committed during the unofficial final weekend of Summer 2025.</p>

<p>State Champion <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2166129' first='Alexander' last='Leeth']</strong> (Knoxville Webb) verbally committed to Rice University Sunday. He becomes the third Top 10 player to verbally commit with one reclassifying to the 2025 bunch and already heading off to college. </p>

<p>Rice University Head Coach Rob Lanier hired March 2024, and his staff hoped for a commitment from the Knox Webb forward heading into the weekend. Coach Lanier is the 26th head coach in Rice University's long history. Did you know Coach Lanier holds Knoxville ties?</p>

<p>Coach Lanier's son <strong>Emory Lanier </strong>also attended Knoxville Webb, the same school Leeth attends now, early in his high school career, graduating in 2020. Emory played for Coach Lanier for two seasons at Southern Methodist University. Lanier started six games in 2024-2025 for his father at Rice University, scoring 3.8 points per game and hauling in 2.2 rpg.</p>
