There are nine teams in 8AAA and it's wide open. Most of the players that are going to decide this section are the returning players listed below!

Detroit Lakes

Dawson VonRuden (2026). Dawson was often times the leading scorer for DL last year and the 6'1 athletic guard returns as a player that gives the Lakers hope. Dawson is a three sport athlete that is likely going to be a football recruit but is an all around standout three sport athlete.

Damarion Ross (2026, [program_tooltip program_id='2076003' first='West' last='Central United']). Ross is a 6'2 playmaker that scored 15 points a game with five assists and three rebounds a game. Ross had a really good year with WCU and he recently took a visit to Concordia-Moorhead who really wants to recruit him to their program for the future.

The other eight players that we can find that played any varsity time were all seniors.

Fergus Falls

[player_tooltip player_id='2434316' first='Micah' last='Johnson'] (2026). The one starter back is [player_tooltip player_id='2434316' first='Micah' last='Johnson'], a six foot guard. Johnson was a three basket a game guy last year and a player that could play both spots. Also a solid baseball player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2869570' first='Nolan' last='Felstul'] (2028). Nolan came off the bench last season and added to the depth of the backcourt. Also a good baseball player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2382519' first='Eston' last='Bethel'] (2028, [program_tooltip program_id='2076003' first='West' last='Central United']). Played some varsity last year as a frosh, also played JV. Really made a name for himself last 15u season as one of three/four all state standouts on [program_tooltip program_id='2076003' first='West' last='Central United']. Very steady playmaker that will be a top Otter player for three years.

Little Falls

[player_tooltip player_id='2875339' first='Owen' last='Gauthier'] (2026). Owen is the top returning scorer and a starter from last season. Good shooter that has good separation ability and he can defend.

Jake Schneider (2027). Jake is a five-foot-9 guard that was in the main rotation last year and became one of the Flyers main players.

Connor Neu (2027). A 6'3 strong player that has the skills to do things away from the rim but the size to produce for his team in the paint.

Rocori

Brody Woods (2026). Listed as Broderick Woods on the basketball rosters but Brody Woods is a 6'5 strong and very athletic future UND football player that scored in double figures last season. Woods is an all league type of player that will be one of the best hoopers in this section.

Ethan Hellermann (2028). Ethan played a lot at guard for Rocori last year and the 5'11 guard is a huge part of the future of this program going forward. Primarily a point guard which will make Ethan a central part of this program the next three seasons.

Nolan VanLoy (2027). Nolan is a standout football prospect that was also a good player off the basketball bench last year scoring two baskets a game. Rocori is going to be an athletic team that might take more potential than we first thought.

Sartell-St. Stephen

[player_tooltip player_id='1560795' first='Maddox' last='Lewis'] (2026, [program_tooltip program_id='2888391' first='Minnesota' last='Comets']). Lewis just committed to Black Hills State and is considered one of the better shooters in the senior class. Lewis scored 13-14 a game last year and is the top Saber player once again.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119640' first='Bennett' last='Bommersbach'] (2026, [program_tooltip program_id='2888391' first='Minnesota' last='Comets']). Bennett is a tough, smart and active guard that can play both guard spots for his team. He scored 10-11 points a game last winter and had a very nice season playing his role for the Comets this 17u year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2910350' first='Isaac' last='Bergstrom'] (2026, [program_tooltip program_id='2888391' first='Minnesota' last='Comets']). Isaac is a long 6'6 or 6'7 frontcourt player that runs well and has good agility moving on ball screens and in help spots defensively. Isaac is an off ball scorer that put up six points a contest last year and should be a quality piece for Sartell.

Sauk Rapids-Rice

[player_tooltip player_id='2833317' first='Ty' last='Rudolph'] (2028). Ty found more of a role last year as a freshman playing on a veteran team that was ranked in the top ten. Ty is a 6'1 guard that made over half of his threes and he will be a key piece moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='2431144' first='Owen' last='Weisz'] (2026). A ball handler that came off the bench a season ago and scored a time or two a contest. Owen made about half the threes he took last year and should move into a bigger ball handling role.

[player_tooltip player_id='2676981' first='Grady' last='Buchert'] (2027, [program_tooltip program_id='2888391' first='Minnesota' last='Comets']). Grady is another guard that we think could really help the Storm next season. He is next in line when it comes to experience on the varsity floor last year and he's coming off a solid summer in the Breakdown Summer Series and playing 16u with the Comets.

St. Cloud Apollo

[player_tooltip player_id='2560535' first='Trevor' last='Terfehr'] (2028, Minnesota Gold). Trevor scored 11 points a game last year and he's one of the more confident shooters you will come across. Apollo had four double figure averaging scorers last year, Trevor is the one returning. Had a good scoring summer at 15u.

De'Anthony Sells (2027, [program_tooltip program_id='2888391' first='Minnesota' last='Comets']). Sells is a 6'5 wing that got better as the winter went on leading to a seven point per game sophomore season. Sells has some good potential and should have a good junior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2560493' first='Jonah' last='Laumeyer'] (2027, [program_tooltip program_id='2888391' first='Minnesota' last='Comets']). Another up and comer at Apollo with good length at 6'4. He should pair with Sells to give Apollo a pair of agile 6'4/6'5 forwards that have really improved in the last 8-9 months.

St. Cloud Tech

Moulid Abdi (2026 Team Get Shook). Abdi is a skilled player that was the leading scorer for Tech last winter putting up 11 points a game and shooting over 40 percent from the arc. The potential to have a really big senior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2575636' first='Elijah' last='Johnson'] (2026). Johnson is a quick ball pressuring defender that plays with pace and scored nine points per game last year as a junior. Johnson shot in good percentages as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id='2873622' first='Nick' last='Brakes'] (2027). A 6'2 wing that scored six points per game a season ago and should take the steps towards being a double figure scorer next year.

Willmar

[player_tooltip player_id='2119642' first='Avery' last='Christensen'] (2026, Southwest MN Stars). Avery was one of the biggest success stories of the summer. His growth a bit in size, in explosiveness, in agility, in skill, etc etc etc, it's one of those progressions that are fun to see. Avery is a Northern State committed guard and is getting better daily.

[player_tooltip player_id='2828218' first='Jordan' last='Ellingson'] (2026). Jordan is a three sport athlete that plays point guard, quarterback, and shortstop/pitcher. He does some of everything including scoring 7-8 points a game as a junior and playing a key role for a team with five of its top six players back.

[player_tooltip player_id='2560448' first='Cooper' last='Schnichels'] (2028, [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota']). Cooper is a 6'6 forward with strength and agility. Physically he should be able to give his team 12 and seven consistently and as he continues to mature and be more skilled, the scoring totals will grow even more. Avery has the main scoring role down, Cooper needs to be that off ball finisher that continues to grow with shot creation.
