There is a lot of talent in Section 3AA and we highlight 24 of those players today!

Fairmont

[player_tooltip player_id='2815217' first='Logan' last='Junkermeier'] (2026, Minnesota Rise). Logan bounced back from injury to average 16 points, nine rebounds and a couple blocks per game during the winter and then during 17u play and camps in the summer, Logan earned division two opportunity. Logan committed to Southwest Minnesota State over the summer and is considered one of the best bigs in the state.

Joseph Hackett (2026). Joe is a standout baseball player that is also one of three guys returning to Fairmont from last year's basketball rotation. He is a six foot guard that was one of the top five scores for the team.

Jackson County Central

[player_tooltip player_id='1560751' first='Weston' last='Rowe'] (2026, Sanford Sports Academy). This 6'7 future offensive lineman for the South Dakota State Jacks also was an all league player as a junior on the hardwood. Rowe averaged 18 points and seven rebounds a game a season ago and he will team with [player_tooltip player_id='2519956' first='Sullivan' last='Hall'] to make a huge front line for JCC.

[player_tooltip player_id='1601069' first='Roman' last='Voss'] (2026). Injury took away his ability to fully impact the basketball season the way Roman can but he's a 6'4 small forward that can dominate the hardwood when healthy. Think Koi Perich at Esko playing basketball, only bigger and maybe better. Voss is of course a four star football commit headed to Minnesota currently putting up insane football numbers but he's a big reason a state title could come in hoops too.

Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunberg

Gavin Mulder (2026). Mulder is an athletic 6'1 guard that can attack with some explosive bounce but he can also shoot. Mulder scored 17 points per game as a junior and is a name to watch when it comes to having a breakout senior season.

Hunter Engelke (2026). Hunter is another member of a strong KMS junior core that could push this team towards 20 wins this season. Hunter is a 6'2 wing that has been outstanding as a wide out this fall and is a really good shortstop and pitcher baseball wise. A three sport standout that makes KMS dangerous.

Litchfield

Matthias Bruning (2026). The Dragons when young last year and while they had some rough nights they still won ten games and guys like Bruning grew experience wise. Matthias scored 14 points a game last year and he was the leader of the team in many ways. Every coach he has had has talked about his leadership and steady decision making for this team.

[player_tooltip player_id='2480990' first='Noah' last='Dietel'] (2026). Noah is the second SDSU future offensive lineman on this list. He is a 6'7 big on the hardwood that averaged 11 points a game as a junior. Noah is a great passer out of the post and can score five-six times a game in the paint.

Luverne

[player_tooltip player_id='2842706' first='Connor' last='Bose'] (2026, Southwest MN Stars). Bose is one of two returning starters from a 19 win team and he was one of their main playmakers. Good defender as well, a leader on this team this season.

Coy Thone (2027). Cody is a 6'3 frontcourt player that scored just under double digits a game last season as an underclassmen. He's more combo forward than big but can be used in many ways for his team.

Minnewaska Area

Tristan O'Neil (2026). O'Neil was the leading scorer for the Lakers last season at about a dozen points a game and the 5'10 guard returns along with three other players from last year's rotation. O'Neil also plays wide out and defensive back at a high level and is a football prospect.

Marc Gruber (2026). Gruber is a 6'2 returning guard who was the second leading scorer for Minnewaska Area a year ago. He's a high quality baseball prospect that is also a very good basketball player that will team with O'Neil and make a strong backcourt.

Montevideo

[player_tooltip player_id='2524646' first='Griffin' last='Epema'] (2027, Southwest MN Stars). One of the smartest and steadiest players you will come across this season. Led his team to state last year and returns along with most of his teammates to make Montevideo a top state contender. Griffin has one of the cleanest feet set jumpers you will see and he can play both guard spots at a high level. Also a very good baseball player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2436768' first='Brody' last='Dack'] (2026, Southwest MN Stars). Brody is a 6'2 small forward that was the third leading scorer for Montevideo last season. He scored 11 points a contest and will be needed to step into that number two role. Epema, Dack, [player_tooltip player_id='2841056' first='Jackson' last='Koenen'] and Adam Van Bingsbergen are all returning starters from a 27 win team.

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta

[player_tooltip player_id='2377913' first='Alex' last='Asmus'] (2027). Alex is one of the biggest names we learned about in the past half year. As a sophomore Alex averaged 15 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals a game shooting 41 percent from the arc and 55 percent overall. That's a break out performance a reason we think Morris Area is going to be very good. Also a standout baseball player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2118471' first='Riley' last='Asmus'] (2026). Riley is a 6'3 wing that became a 1,000 point scorer last season as a junior averaging just about a dozen points a game. He's a smart player that rebounds very well, good passer and he can score around the basket. And like many guys on this, another really good baseball player.

Paynesville Area

Carter Flanders (2026). Carter is the heart of this team. He is an aggressive player, the leader and a hard worker that has put in a lot of time to get better. Flanders improved from five points a game as a sophomore to 18 a game as a junior and expectations are high as a senior.

[player_tooltip player_id='2420590' first='Reed' last='Johnson'] (2026). The other heart of the team? That would be Reed. A two time all league player that runs the show and gets after it on defense. He scored about 13.5 points per game last season and is one of the better lead guards on this list.

Redwood Valley

Zack Lundeen (2027). With such a large percentage of players gone to graduation from last year, the 5'11 Lundeen steps into a big role. He's a hard working player that shoots it well and was the third leading scorer last year at 11 points a game.

Zachary Wilson (2026). One of the more athletic players on the team, Wilson is a 5'11 guard that will pair with Lundeen nicely in the backcourt. Outstanding golfer and student as well.

St. James

John Boelke (2026). John is the top returning scorer at 11 points per game and he did that with a quality jumpshot. The 6'1 guard moves into the top role scoring wise. Also a very good baseball player.

Sawyer Olson (2027). Olson is a 6'3 player that started last season scoring about seven points a game. He is also a good football player and his top sport appears to be baseball. Another three sport guy.

Windom Area

[player_tooltip player_id='2842674' first='Elliot' last='Serreyn'] (2027, Southwest MN Stars). Serreyn is a player to keep an eye on as a prospect. He's an explosive leaper and finisher that had several dunks last year and was a high jump champions. The 6'2 wing led his team in scoring with 18 points per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2423201' first='Jackson' last='Joyce'] (2026). A standout football player who has scored several times already this fall, and a backcourt starter last year that scored ten points a game as a junior.
