The underclassmen talent in Texas was on full display at the Prep Hoops Freshmen Showcase and Sophomore ID Camp. Both stages gave prospects the chance to compete head-to-head, showcase their skill sets, and start building their reputations early in their high school careers. From freshmen already showing maturity beyond their years to sophomores hungry to prove they're ready for bigger opportunities, the gym was filled with energy and breakout performances. Here's a look at some of the standouts who left their mark and positioned themselves as names to track moving forward.

The ultimate all around glue guy with an elite defensive impact across positions, an unselfish mentality, fluid scoring within the flow, and amazing leadership that made him standout as a the best communicator in the gym. [player_tooltip player_id='2926233' first='Jacob' last='Richard'] showed the ability to defend any type of guard whether they're a creative scorer, pure shooter, or downhill threat. He didn't force offense but consistently put himself in the right spots, whether spacing, slipping into gaps, or rotating on defense. Defensively, he was switchable even as a freshman. His length and mobility allowed him to hedge and recover in ball-screen coverage, slide with wings, and rotate to the rim as a secondary shot blocker. He brought a high motor on the glass, often keeping possessions alive with tip-outs or ripping down rebounds in traffic. Richard displays natural floor general skills that make him versatile on the wing with point forward potential if he continues to grow.

This kid's game immediately jumped off the page when he blew by his defender with a decisive first step, attacking straight down the lane with one clear intention, to finish above the rim. Elevating with force, he unleashed a violent tomahawk slam over the help-side defender, a posterizing finish that sent shockwaves through the gym. The combination of burst, vertical pop, and fearless mentality on that play left scouts and players alike stunned, showcasing his ability to turn a simple drive into a statement-making highlight.

[player_tooltip player_id='2900736' first='Kameron' last='Ijeh'] stood out as a high-level guard with excellent fluidity and smooth athletic movements, playing with effortless pace and ball control. He was a dynamic scorer from all over the floor, capable of creating off the dribble with quick pull-ups, and explosive bursts into the paint, while also spacing the floor as a catch-and-shoot threat. His ability to score both in transition and in the halfcourt made him one of the most versatile offensive weapons in his age group. Beyond his scoring, he brought reliable playmaking instincts, using sharp vision and precision passing to set up teammates out of ball screens and drive-and-kick situations. He consistently balanced looking for his own offense with facilitating for others, embodying the traits of a steady yet dangerous lead guard.

Dash hovind proved to be a true pass-first point guard, he consistently did all the little things that made the game easier for his teammates. His high basketball IQ was evident in his ability to manipulate defenses and recognize when to thread passes through tight windows, often leveraging the bounce pass as a precise weapon to deliver teammates into scoring positions. Purposeful with every dribble, Hovind never wasted motion, using his handle not to over-dribble but to create angles, shift defenders, and set up the next read. His floor game reflected maturity and an unselfish approach, elevating the rhythm and efficiency of the offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2811394' first='Dwayne' last='Fongang'] is a versatile two-way prospect who makes his presence felt on the boards, in the paint, in the midrange, and along the perimeter. Fongang shows strong switchability, defending both bigs and guards with the same effectiveness. He elevates those around him with his playmaking, racking up assists game after game while making good decisions with the ball in his hands. Using polished pivots, he faces up, protects the ball, and surveys the floor with maturity beyond his years. Fongang also rebounds at a high level and immediately looks to push the pace, where his ability to draw attention opens up opportunities for his teammates.

A shifty lefty with an automatic spot-up jumper and the ability to attack closeouts with his quick first step. He was productive and active on both ends, never standing still, as soon as he made a pass, he immediately flowed into a screen, cut, or secondary action to free up a teammate, reflecting a strong understanding of off-ball movement and team spacing. In transition, he was at his best, using his ability to build up speed and power in the open floor before finishing with a high, extended layup that stretched away from defenders. His motor, energy, and willingness to do the little things made him a reliable contributor who consistently impacted winning plays.
