Junior (2027) transfers from out-of-state set to make a splash

Just as the transfer portal has reshaped college basketball in recent years, the high school landscape has also been impacted by consistent player movement. Pennsylvania is no exception, as we highlight a handful of juniors transferring in from out-of-state who we expect to make notable impacts as they close out their prep careers.    Collins moves back to his native South Philly to continue a family legacy at Neumann after a stint out west at St. Monica (CA). An electric southpaw guard, he figures to make an immediate impact in a guard-heavy Saints lineup that will look to contend for a Catholic League title. With a blistering first step and explosive finishing ability, he's a highlight waiting to happen offensively. But Collins may make his greatest impact on the other end, where he's a ferocious on-ball defender with the athletic tools to make plays in passing lanes and even help out protecting the rim. The nephew of Neumann legend and former Syracuse star Scoop Jardine, Collins should be on D1 radars before long, particularly with continuous improvement as a perimeter shooter.     Ivery has been building momentum as a blossoming mid-to-high major prospect in the Midwest and should only continue to garner such attention after transferring in from Columbus Academy (OH). A long and versatile backcourt prospect comfortable operating across a variety of positions, Ivery shows a natural knack for putting the ball in the bucket. Capable of spotting up off-ball, making plays out of ball screens, or running out in transition for easy finishes, he's a blossoming athlete with ideal size for the backcourt at the highest levels. The upside is apparent with Ivery, particularly with the option of reclassing back to 2028 still on the table for the recently-turned 16-year-old.     Jones began to break out as a sophomore for perennial state title contender Sanford School (DE), and looks to take a jump up in both competition and role upon heading up to the Catholic League and stepping into a prominent role in the O'Hara lineup. A smooth shotmaking wing forward on a steady upward trajectory, Jones is a reliable floor-spacer with clean and consistent mechanics off the catch. He's begun to get starting more aggressive looking to make things happen with his size around the bucket and shows natural passing instincts from a variety of spots on the floor. With upside as he blossoms athletically and potentially grows even further (with a 6'11" father who played at St. Joe's), Jones should emerge onto scholarship radars over the course of the season.     Watching the defending PCL champs over the summer, it was clear they were among the favorites to repeat but still had a glaring hole in the middle in place of Loyola (MD) freshman Everett Barnes. Enter Hamidu, a towering presence arriving this fall by way of recently-closed Lawrence Woodmere (NY). Having played in spurts amid bouts with injury since arriving in the U.S. last year from Ghana, Hamidu now appears healthy and ready to make an impact with his top-tier length and blossoming mobility. He's at his best protecting the rim defensively or finishing easy buckets with dunks, but shows flashes of moving his feet on the perimeter and even spacing the floor as a jump shooter. While still in the relatively early stages of his development, Hamidu has programs up to the mid-major level already tracking his progress thanks to his tantalizing natural tools.     Another prospect making the move up from the First State into the Philly Catholic League, Price comes via St. Elizabeth's and has a chance to slot in immediately to a Bonner lineup looking to continue climbing the standings. A lengthy guard with an evolving frame and strong scoring instincts, he should add further punch to a Friar backcourt with multiple scholarship prospects already among its 2027 class. Price is a dynamic shooter who can get hot off the catch from deep or with a polished pullup arsenal in the midrange, playing with a high-motor on either end of the floor using his wiry strength and budding athleticism to make plays in the floor game. Young for his grade, he could emerge as a scholarship-level prospect as he continues sharpening his game amidst the gauntlet of PCL competition.
