High School Spotlight: Heritage Hills Patriots

The season is still a few months away, but it is never too early to look ahead at the high school season. We will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and more for the upcoming season. For today's spotlight, we take a look at the Heritage Hills Patriots.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Quick Hitters</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Went 13-9 last season.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Lost to Mount Vernon (Posey) in Sectionals.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Head Coach Josh Wetzel was hired in the offseason and is in his first year as a head coach.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Should compete in Sectional 32.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Player(s): [player_tooltip player_id='1560951' first='Jake' last='Prior']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Heritage will have a few guys that will make them a player in Sectional 32 but the guy I feel will be the leader of this squad is senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1560951' first='Jake' last='Prior']. The 6'6 shooting guard had a really strong summer with Team Indiana showcasing the improvements he has made over the past few years a player. Prior has come into his own as a player being one of the better three level scorers in the 2026 class using his length and IQ to make plays both on and off the ball. He is playing with a ton of confidence and just one of those guys that seems to make players better around him. He comes back as one of the leading scorers from a season ago. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='2140443' first='Tait' last='Wetzel']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the better up-and-coming bigs we have in the junior class is also on track to have a breakout season for the Patriots is [player_tooltip player_id='2140443' first='Tait' last='Wetzel']. He is a 6'7 center that does his role so well in the paint. He is a force on the glass, scores with a soft touch, and makes things difficult on the defensive end.
