At the end of March we had 260 players to rank for the 2027 class and we are now at 294.

35 players are new and some have moved to different states, focused on different sports, and went into the 2028 or 2026 class.

Of the 35 new players, 7 fell in the top-20 and 15 in the top-100. The other 20 fell in the top 294.

This means that most of the players saw their stock drop at least 7 to maybe even 20 spots possibly in the rankings.

Once again the Prep schools are clearly taking over these rankings with 13 in the top-20. Players in traditional schools will definitely be compared to them and have to show they are just as good to be on the minds of the college coaches and scouts during the AIA season.

This is usually the year (Jr year of HS) that players from all over the country come into AZ to be challenged at a prep school with EYBL, OTE and other NSPA. So it pushes some of the AIA players down in the rankings.

This is also the year where you start seeing players athleticism kick in, starting getting taller, starting moving more fluidly from end to end, start taking basketball more serious and are refining their skill and polishing it a few things.

Our goal at PrepHoopsAZ is to try and recognize anyone who may play college basketball. We will keep searching for new players in preseason camps/events/leagues/Prep Hoops Circuit, Arizona EXPO, my personal Southwest Basketball Camp and during the AIA/CAA/OTE/EYBL/NSPA/Grind Session seasons.

1. Almost 20 players have earned a D1 offer showing this class has some talent including [player_tooltip player_id='1555180' first='Delton' last='Prescott III'].

2. [player_tooltip player_id='1555179' first='Darius' last='Wabbington'].

3. Rankings are based on a lot of things. Production, size for position, college coaches, the eye test, ability to score and defend, instincts, IQ, how a player moves, speed, ball handling, shooting, fundamentals. length and possible upside. It is not the easiest thing to do since not all players play in the same leagues for AAU and HS. They can be in the CAA, Grind Session, EIBC, OTE and the AIA obviously has different levels. Plus AAU teams may play on National Circuits (3SSB, UAA and EYBL) or play on independent or up and coming circuits (Pangos, NxtPro, EYCL, UAA Rise, Prep Hoops, WCE, New Balance, The Stage and so on). So you put all that information together and create the rankings.

4. Of the 294 players we have 87 PG's, 51 SG's, 50 CG's, 56 SF's, 35 PF's and 15 C's.
