Following are five new names from Thursday night's action at Morey Courts in Mount Pleasant.

[player_tooltip player_id='2917013' first='Johnathan' last='Lake'] 6-6 2026 Battle Creek Pennfield This was only my second or third time catching Lake this spring/summer. He really broke out on Thursday night. The mixture of size and versatility is the skeleton key here. Has bulky but athletic frame. Despite being one of the biggest players in the camp. Frequently started and led transition opportunities himself. Essentially serving as his own outlet pass. Once on the break was a good passer when needed. I used the qualifier of needed because he probably couple have a little more selfish. No one was taking a charge from him. Accordingly got to the rim with ease. Showed good footwork during drill stations and a soft touch around the basket. Had a strong grassroots campaign with [program_tooltip program_id='2269794' first='United' last='Persuit']. A multi sport standout, he should have options to do something at the next level.

Jordan McClain 6-3 2026 Flint Hamady I really liked McLain's unique game. The first thing that catches your eye is advanced physical frame. Honestly I thought he was one of the counselors during the drill stations. Primarily because he was performing the tasks like a member of the team. And furthermore, he simply does not look like a high schooler. Is built like a rock with a thick upper body. Showed a diverse finishing package around the rim. Was able to score from multiple and often unorthodox angles. This helps as he is not the tallest low block prospect. Fortunately he's not confined to that area though. Is a good athlete with enough foot speed to be a factor out on the perimeter. Showed the ability to finish above the rim as well. If he can become more than just a factor on the perimeter, he could find a spot as a “jack of all trades” prospect at the next level,

Trey Johnson 6-5 2026 Otisville Lakeville Memorial I've been doing this job for nearly a decade. I don't believe I have ever covered a player from Otisville. I'm not even totally sure of where it is. I do know they have intriguing prospect in Johnson. I was impressed with how he improved simply within the camp itself. Appeared to struggle with some of the footwork during the drill stations. He kept working and really popped during scrimmages and later portions of the camp. Showed athleticism and the abilty to finish above the rim. Also ran the court fluidly and with speed for his size. Has decent ball skills and looks like he has the potential to possibly develop into a big wing if he continues to improve.

[player_tooltip player_id='2847256' first='Grady' last='Gatrell'] 6-4 2029 Beal City We continue our tour of physically advanced versatile wing/forwards. Only this prospect has yet to step foot in high school. Gatrell is a next level athlete already. At times just bullied players much older than him during the camp. The game goes beyond just brute strength though. Has the ability to initiate offense. Especially out of the high post as he is a good passer. However also has the handle and intangibles to play in backcourt in a pinch. Is a coaches son, but more importantly plays like it. Had a strong grassroots campaign with REAL Basketball while playing up a level in the process. Even if he is done growing vertically has the skillset to be an outstanding high school basketball player already.

Kaden Kjolhede 6-4 2029 Mount Pleasant I'll deviate from the mold of the previous prospects to close. Kjolhede is only going to be a freshman, and he looks like one. However, that is until the ball tips. A skilled and explosive prospect who excels in transition. He already shows the ability to play multiple positions. Is a good shooter and ball handler for his size. Very light on his feet with excellent lateral quickness. I could see him developing into a major defensive presence as he ages. Comes from an athletic family with deep CMU roots. Also plays in a Mount Pleasant program that has a history of strong player development. Put this player on your radar as Michigan's 2029 class begins to take shape.
