Here we examine some of my favorite prospects from outside of Illinois and Indiana that I evaluated over the weekend at the National Open Championship!

Kaleb Jackson (Upside Athletics)

Jackson is one of the higher ceiling prospects at the event. The 6'5” combo guard from Texas who is smooth and creative with the rock in his hands. Effective in the drive and kick as a passer often finding his brother for open looks. Creates space on his floater with his off hand and is a crafty finisher in the lane. Displayed some pop on a strong slash for a dunk. Liked the passing off live dribbles and his overall confidence. Defensive instincts including swatting a couple of shots from his guard spot.

Cole Brewer (MWBC Chaffin)

Brewer caught our attention as a multi-level scoring wing. He knocked in three triples in the game we saw along with displaying slick ball handling getting in the lane for difficult finishes that he converted.

Caden Dunlevy (MWBC Chaffin)

Dunlevy is another two guard that can really shoot the rock. Poured in four from beyond the arc in their Saturday morning game. Clean and consistent shot mechanics. Also crashed the offensive glass for put back opportunities.

Demetrius Taylor (Milwaukee Young Bucks)

Lead guard from Wisconsin who was effective as a shot maker from the perimeter making three triples Saturday against Illinois Outwork. Makes solid decisions as a passer on the fly.

Amare Nixon (Milwaukee Young Bucks)

Nixon is a big and athletic wing that has broad shoulders. Rebounds well for his position and this fluid athlete showed burst off the bounce and flashes on a long ball.

Bridge Barrett (CBE Oklahoma)

At 6'1” Barrett is a shooting guard that has solid handles, high IQ, and savvy with the rock in his hands. Drained a pair of threes in the contest we evaluated.

Colton Reinke (ND Phenom)

Reinke opened eyes with his play for ND Phenom as a guard that was aggressive getting in the paint for scores. He was effective as a slasher and sneaking in on the offensive glass. Flashed as a shooter.

Jake Burow (Davis Brothers Elite)

Burow is a plus shooter that is one to watch in Wisconsin with his plus shot from deep. Also poured in some crisp mid0range shots as well.

Nick Schultz (Davis Brothers Elite)

Schultz is a point guard that can also really knock down shots from the perimeter as he nailed several in the game we saw along with mixing in soft touch finishes.

Lucas Gustafson (Minnesota Fury)

Gustafson is a crafty lead guard that did a nice job of maneuvering his way in the lane for nifty scores at the cup. Also banged in a couple of threes in their semi final win.

Thomas Shunmugavelu (Minnesota Fury)

Undersized five that at 6'5” has excellent mobility and moves light on his feet for his size. Spin moves, hook shots, takes from the mid-post, and crafty finishes around the basket. Also worked well in the pick/roll game.
