Team Spotlight: Developing Character

The opportunity to travel and observe numerous teams reveals which organizations prioritize not just recruiting talent, but also player development. Our first team spotlight focuses on [program_tooltip program_id='2449855' first='Developing' last='Character'], a program competing on the PUMA Circuit. Having observed this team at two different sessions and tracked player progress, we highlight a few individuals who have shown impressive development over the summer.    [player_tooltip player_id='1543657' first='Triston' last='Brown'], a 6'0" 2026 guard, has also shown considerable growth this summer, particularly his long-range shooting, making him a dangerous offensive threat. A potential stock riser, he's peaking at the right time and could be poised for a breakout season. Brown's overall production will be crucial for Woodlawn's success, and he appears ready to embrace a larger role. His improved shooting makes him a player to track.     Travis Lathers is a high-energy player who thrives on doing the little things that don't always show up in the box score. While a capable offensive threat, he embraces the dirty work, creating opportunities for himself and his teammates through hustle and grit. His relentless style of play and venomous presence on the court make him a disruptive force. Lathers has a ton of upside and could be a valuable asset at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='2132767' first='Shance' last='James'], a 6'3" guard at University Lab High School, is an electric player who uses his athleticism and energy to create mismatches all over the court. He can attack the rim against smaller defenders and shoot over bigger ones, making him a difficult cover. His ability to knock down the three-pointer adds another dimension to his offensive game. Defensively, he is always active, frustrating opponents with his constant movement and pressure. James overall growth in size and skill make him an interesting prospect in the 2027 Class.     K'Ron Bernard is poised for a breakout season, showcasing a consistent and steady style of play. When evaluating next-level players, coaches and scouts look for poise, composure, basketball IQ, and skill, and Bernard checks all those boxes. He's a reliable scorer, capable of putting up 15-18 points per game in any setting. An unselfish player and willing facilitator, he makes winning plays and elevates his game against top competition. His first offer from United International College is likely just the beginning.     Dank Patterson, a 6'1" 2028 guard at Madison Prep, has shown significant growth this summer and could be a key contributor for a loaded squad. His consistent improvement throughout the PUMA sessions and into Nationals makes him one to watch as he transitions into the high school season. A versatile player, he showcased his all-around game with a 19-point, 5-rebound, 3-assist, 2-steal performance, demonstrating his ability to impact the game in multiple ways.
