As we start to preview the 2024-25 season we give you our initial thoughts of each section in Class AAAA.

AAAA. The door is open again for several teams to earn a spot to state. Rochester Mayo bringing back the core of their team is big, and they have played doing well all over AAU basketball right now. Lakeville South has some good role guys coming back, they could be better than expected while North goes through changes. Defending champion JM lost all but one player from their rotation.

AAAA. Spot by spot this section might have the toughest game when it comes to playing everybody in the section. You can get a good game from everybody in the section. Prior Lake returns the most and has the most coming up so they will be the favorite but Tonka is going to have a tough backcourt and everybody in the league has a good player to lean on for points.

AAAA. The steady improvement of this group year by year continues. Apple Valley and Eagan enter as top ten caliber teams while Hastings has a chance to be very good as well. The rest of the league will fight to get to .500 but that has been the case for a long time, there are teams at the top that can win games at state.

AAAA. The more things change..... CDH is the favorite and a top team in state candidate, Tartan and East Ridge both have top 5-10 in state potential, and the rest of the league all has some good players that will have to be game planned for. Seems to be more of the same in Class AAAA.

AAAA. Keep an eye on Spring Lake Park and Champlin Park will be solid although replacing two really good scorers will have its battles here and there. But the section will be a must see battle between Park Center and Maple Grove. The Pirates have another strong five and the Crimson, they are the hottest team name in the state right now.

AAAA. The section is going to have the same type of situation: some good teams popping up that will have good years - like Edina, Washburn and Buffalo - but it will come down to Wayzata and Hopkins. They were the best two teams in Class AAAA last year and they will be two of the best three or four teams in the state next year.

AAAA. The section that never seems to change. Both in what seems to happen and in the make-up of it. The cool thing is that it seems like it's a new team every single year representing the section and last year it was Anoka. It could be Anoka again but Andover and Blaine both have as good of a shot with what they have back.

AAAA. While 7AAAA has the same make-up again, 8AAAA changed with the new sections again. Monticello and Alexandria moved from top ten in Class AAA basketball last year to top contenders in 8AAAA this year. Alex is a top five team in state coming into the season and their top contenders will likely be Elk River, Moorhead, and Bemidji. Bemidji could have a really good year, maybe even sneak into the top ten at some point.
