June 17-18 I watched the third ever Section-7 Qualifier. There were 96 teams in 6 pools of 16 teams each.

The 6 winners advanced to the official Section-7 June 20-22 versus some of the top teams on the West Coast.

I watched a bunch of full and half of some of the games. I obviously did not watch every team and when I watched, I am basing it on that performance and on the teams success combined.

Congrats to Arcadia, Centennial, Chaparral, Cienega, Dysart & Salpointe Catholic for earning spots into the weekends Section-7 Tournament.

7th Team Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='2628063' first='Jacob' last='Banja'] Bourgade Catholic

The big man has great length and impeccable timing to block shots. He corrals rebounds at a high clip and blocks or alters many shots per game. He runs the floor and scores on put backs or layups.

[player_tooltip player_id='2149099' first='Dominic' last='Dickerson'] Scottsdale Christian Academy

A pure point guard who makes plays for his teammates. He is their true floor general and will score with layups, handles the ball pressure and thinks the game. When he plays well, he takes immense pressure off of Harrison.

[player_tooltip player_id='2842403' first='Malik' last='Frazier'] Bourgade Catholic

An incoming freshman who can score from all levels. He has a tighter handle and he gets to his spots on the court. He can pull from mid to the three point line and comes with some range. He has a floater game and a tough pull-up plus he can make plays for teammates. He is most likely not done growing.

[player_tooltip player_id='2674054' first='Gavin' last='Greene'] Coconino (Pictured)

A bigger guard or wing forward who is extremely fluid and graceful. He moves well from end to end and gains so much ground with his handle. He takes long strides and will score to the basket or make a play for a teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146268' first='Brock' last='Knee'] Arcadia

A bigger scoring guard has one of the easier three point shooting strokes in his class. He catches and shoots it quickly from the three and moves without the ball to free himself. He can also create his own offense with dribble drives and keeps changing speeds to get a step on the defender. He rebounds well and moves the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2884642' first='Jackson' last='Murphy'] Corona Del Sol

A newcomer for me is a sophomore combo guard who can be a catch and shoot sniper from the three point line. He has a pretty stroke and gets it off his hands quickly. He has an advanced feel for the game and he is a good passer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2884695' first='Justin' last='Rushing'] Bourgade Catholic

A long and fluid wing/bigger guard with some athleticism. He can take a few steps and get to close to the basket. He will grab rebounds out of his area and has a stronger frame to handle the pounding inside mixed in with plus body control.

[player_tooltip player_id='1596641' first='Damien' last='Tillman'] Dysart

An undersized scoring point guard can rattle in threes one by one. He made some impressive passes threading the needle and plays from the neck up. He is quick in the passing lanes to collect steals and then will find an open teammate quickly.

[player_tooltip player_id='2755925' first='Aidan' last='Whitaker'] McClintock

A high level football player is a perfect fit next to the three senior scorers. He gets a lot of the tougher grimy points in the paint and will also score with threes, mid-range jumpers and alley-oops. He can also get on the glass and score on put backs.
