New Mexico's top 2026 prospect now has an opportunity to play Division I basketball.

2026 Cleveland guard [player_tooltip player_id='1326930' first='Remy' last='Albrecht']'s sensational summer with ABC Spotlight paid huge dividends Saturday when he was offered by the Charlotte 49ers of the American Athletic Conference for his first Division I offer.

Albrecht is competing for ABC Spotlight in Atlanta this weekend. In a game on Friday, he scored 31 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, connecting on 6-of-10 shots from 3-point range. Needless to say, he impressed the numerous coaches and scouts there.

Albrecht was previously offered by Fort Lewis College in May and New Mexico Highlands in April.

He averaged 29.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.8 steals per game in 2024-25 for Cleveland, which reached the quarterfinals of the Class 5A playoffs in March, and not surprisingly was a First-Team All-State selection.

He surpassed the 1,500 career point mark in February. Barring injuries, Albrecht should easily surpass 2,000 career points before he's done playing for the Storm.

In January, Albrecht scored a school record 47 points against Hobbs in a Storm victory at the Thunderdome. He added 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals to deliver a spectacular all-around performance.

As seen by his numbers, Albrecht is a solid player on both ends of the floor. In June, he helped lead Cleveland to a 9-0 record and the Elite Division championship at the Oklahoma State camp. The next weekend, Cleveland went 4-0 in pool play at the Gold Crown Tournament in Denver.

With Albrecht and other key Storm players returning in 2025-26, Cleveland could be a contender to make a deep run in the state tournament next March.
