June 17-18 I watched the third ever Section-7 Qualifier. There were 96 teams in 6 pools of 16 teams each.

The 6 winners advanced to the official Section-7 June 20-22 versus some of the top teams on the West Coast.

I watched a bunch of full and half of some of the games. I obviously did not watch every team and when I watched, I am basing it on that performance and on the teams success combined.

Congrats to Arcadia, Centennial, Chaparral, Cienega, Dysart & Salpointe Catholic for earning spots into the weekends Section-7 Tournament.

3rd Team Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='2291976' first='Collin' last='Kvamme'] Campo Verde

A top shooter who is a better passer then you realize. The lefty can fling it off of his hands so quickly and comes with range. He sees the court and will find a small space and slip it in and is quick to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2767427' first='Bronson' last='Hedges'] Campo Verde

A deep ranged shooter did some of the little things when I viewed him. He collects steals and rebounds showing some fight. He will score with put backs but when his three point ball is clicking, he is a tough cover.

[player_tooltip player_id='2533653' first='Bennett' last='Christensen'] Ben Franklin

A pure point with that throw back feel as he sees the court better than most. He can change speeds and get to the basket and is very patient to score in the paint. His passing sets him apart of some of the others guards with pinpoint passing and timing.

[player_tooltip player_id='2884398' first='Kingston' last='Campus'] Salpointe Catholic

A newcomer for me is a scoring lead guard with size. He will score it with off the dribble threes and his ball rotates perfectly like it should. He is a very tough on-ball defender and has some shift to his handle. He can create his own offense plus make a play for a teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2268365' first='Kristian' last='Del Rio'] Cienega

A stronger framed guard smartly plays off of two-feet and will get to the basket. He changes speed and will get a step on his defender and he always takes the bump with no issues to put points on the board or get to the free throw line. He can also get hot from the three as he was nice compliment to Moore and Rodgers all weekend .

[player_tooltip player_id='2275986' first='KJ' last='Fauske'] Seton Catholic

I ended up watching a lot of the Seton/DE upset and Fauske was the main reason why. He comes off of curls, screens, elevators and fires away so quickly before a defender can close out from the three point line. He has in-the-gym range but can also make plays as the lead guard on the team and get to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2134454' first='Kameron' last='Pippen'] Palo Verde

One of the strongest point guards of any small school guard or most guards in the AIA. He is a downhill beast who takes contact and will bounce off of the defenders. He has advanced court vision and is competitive on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2883785' first='Ethan' last='Sang'] Ben Franklin

Another newcomer for me is a long and lean wing forward who can score. He is is one of the longest kids in the building and will hit threes with range and score with offensive rebound put backs. His length allows him to keep his opponents in front of him and he is just scratching the surface.

[player_tooltip player_id='2767903' first='Jacobi' last='Thompson'] Arcadia (Pictured)

One of the top incoming freshmen that I viewed on the two days. He is very talented with real length. He is a rare one who can take a couple of dribbles and flush it down effortlessly elbows above the rim. He can hit the three and defends multiple positions with his size and twitchy reflexes.
