June 17-18 I watched the third ever Section-7 Qualifier. There were 96 teams in 6 pools of 16 teams each.

The 6 winners advanced to the official Section-7 June 20-22 versus some of the top teams on the West Coast.

I watched a bunch of full and half of some of the games. I obviously did not watch every team and when I watched, I am basing it on that performance and on the teams success combined.

Congrats to Arcadia, Centennial, Chaparral, Cienega, Dysart & Salpointe Catholic for earning spots into the weekends Section-7 Tournament.

2nd Team Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='2784885' first='Owen' last='Brackmann'] Horizon (Pictured)

An athletic forward seems to get better by the month. He is just finding his groove as a prospect and with his size and skill, he is just a match-up nightmare. He shoots the three easily but can also throw it down on the break. He will post up a little and rebounds well in his area.

[player_tooltip player_id='2052370' first='Jackson' last='Harrison'] Scottsdale Christian Academy

A true combo guard who can play on or off the ball. He will make some plays but he is one of the top scoring small school players out there. He will pull-up off the dribble from mid-range and hit threes from literal NBA range. He will create his own offense and get to the basket with advanced body control. He almost single-handedly willed his team to make it to the final of their bracket.

[player_tooltip player_id='1950116' first='Ethan' last='Hayes'] Horizon

A long and lean taller wing forward with a pretty shooting stroke from deep. Once he hits his first three with a quicker release, the next two or three may be going in. He rebounds well and he is passing the ball better and better as he ages. Him and Brackmann will have monster senior seasons in Scottsdale.

[player_tooltip player_id='2552782' first='Jaiden' last='Hong'] Chaparal

A quick pure point guard with a tight handle. He has an old school approach to the game. He makes every read and handles heavy pressure. He will throw ropes up the court and make impressive live dribble passes in the middle of defenders. He will score with threes and quick bursts to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='1893665' first='Cisco' last='Llamas'] Sahuaro

A top senior Tucson player is tough to play against. He makes a living playing on the ball and collecting steals in bunches. He is so quick and strong and gets under you and will rip your pocket and take it for a layup. He will also hit jumpers from mid to the three with deep range.

[player_tooltip player_id='1620346' first='Joshua' last='McManaway'] McClintock

A bigger scoring guard was hitting threes from the parking lot. He has incredible range and will rattle them off one by one when he is on. He hit 7 in one of his games but also rebounds the ball at a high clip and defends the 2-5 for the Chargers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2249646' first='Talan' last='Speir'] Benjamin Franklin

A scoring guard who is hyper athletic. He seems to fly in the air with next level body control after he gets a step on his defender. He will score getting to the basket, fall aways from mid and catch lob passes plus will hit the three. He showed that he will be one of the top small school players in the state this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2466067' first='Adrian' last='Stubbs'] Maryvale

A sturdy framed scoring pure point guard. The ball is on a string for him and he is one of the best if not THE best live dribble passer in the AIA for his class. He shoots it with range and then will cross you over and pull-up from mid and get to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2427680' first='Conner' last='Tefteller'] Campo Verde

A pure point guard who can score. He surveys the scene to make a play up the court and thru the traffic. He will score with perimeter jumpers from mid to the three plus gets to the basket and will score multiple and-1's. He has had a great month.
