6/20/25: Watching Kelsey Rose Jr. is a lot of fun. The guy looks like he wandered away from the football field. Because he weighs about 210 at 6-foot-4 opponents imagine he will be a power forward or center. Then Rose Jr. catches the ball around the arc and incorporates crafty moves. Rose Jr. employs a herky-jerky style that "wrong-foots" defenders. Rose Jr. might be a point guard. Maybe. As a junior-to-be Rose Jr. dribbles well enough to play the point at the high school level, but must defend bigs for his Eagle team as they lack anybody else capable down low.

6/20/25: Whispers out of Jackson, Tennessee is that Co can really play. The senior-to-be earned 1st Team All-District averaging 11 ppg, 5 apg, and 4 rpg. Vargason made nine three-pointers to set the school record in a semifinal win over Wayne County. That was a 37-point output.

6/20/25: Steady point guard. The younger cousin of the Amonett brothers. Those three are all college basketball players and Cole will be too. Moves great without the basketball. Cole always knows time and score and rarely turns the ball over. He might be the strongest physically of any Amonett heading into their sophomore season.

6/20/25: A familiar name to readers of PrepHoops.com/Tennessee. Kobi is finally holding the keys to the bus at Independence High. To be fair he played behind some program greats, if not two of the greatest three (Jett Montgomery, Tylan Lewis). Both are D1 basketball players now. Kobi gets wherever he wants to on the floor with elite handle and great composure. He can react to defenses and pick his spots. Ideally, IHS will be able to get Kobi open looks too as Jackson buries three-pointers when open.

6/20/25: Once against Cookeville is pretty good at basketball. How is that possible when they keep graduating stars (Joshua Heard, Colin Ayers, Jaren Davis)? Well, [player_tooltip player_id='2575799' first='Walker' last='Redding'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2508422' first='Bo' last='Maxwell'] both started last year for one of the surprise teams in 4A. Redding moves like a fledgling wing and handles better than most high school forwards. Look for him to make a jump in the coming season.
