Dekalb Live: Saturday’s Rising Stars

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Teams were back in action and ready to compete on Day 2 of Dekalb Live on Saturday. Prep Hoops Illinois was in attendance again checking out players and programs from all around the state. It was a great chance for team's to see new faces from different programs and see where they stack up as we near the end of scholastic team play this summer. I had the opportunity to take in over a half a dozen games starting in the mid afternoon hour and into the evening. Good activity around the rim. Hands and feet are steady in multiple phases. Runs the floor well. Had a couple offensive highlights with pump faking from the wing and dribble driving to finish in traffic. Came up with a take-a-way for a solo conversion easy lay-in. Finished with multiple offensive rebounds. Team's main energizer with the ball. Sees the court well. Might be smaller guard but hangs around the glass and still boards it well. Will pitch it ahead if opportunities are there or take it down himself for possible primary break points. Passes effectively. Can speed the game up. Knocked down multiple 3's with confidence and not afraid to pull the trigger from deep. Gets it off quick. Liked his tenacity and agility to get up and down the floor at a good rate. Followed up a couple misses from teammates in transition for put back buckets. Challenges on the ball defensively with good reaction. Spotted up from 3 multiple times with one being 20 seconds left to pull team within a bucket to give a chance. Really shifty keeping on the ball defender(s) off balance. Great feel and rhythm. Has a good ability with the ball once double comes to find cracks in the defense and find an open man. Not phased under pressure. A true 3 level scorer and made it look fairly simple doing so in multiple ways. Wanted to throw it home a couple times and obviously has good enough bounce in the lane to do so. Finished with a game high 24. Possesses shiftiness with the ball and creates a challenge for defender to stay in front of. Changes speeds effectively. Solid frame and uses his body well once he's into the teeth of the defense. Hit atleast 3 spot up trey's in the 2nd half. Jump shot looks pure mid range. Made a cool in and out move with 1 hand and finished in traffic. Overall liked his ability to create for himself and others with a toughness demeanor. Strong frame and agile for size. Hit 2 spot up 3's from the corner in rhythm. Shot form is ready for the next level to get it off against similar size. Will push the ball after D board to see opportunities in the primary break. Looks for openings and reads defense accordingly after catching it on the block. Soft touch around the rim. Made a cool up and under off the bounce in traffic and another baseline take off a fake handoff EOB set.
