<p>June 5th-7th I attended the 18th annual <strong>Best in Basketball Summer Invitational </strong>at Mesquite HS in Gilbert/AZ. </p>

<p>There were 28 local teams who played in one to five showcase games.</p>

<p>An undersized scoring guard is a bucket. He will score with blow by's and finish with layups and floaters. He has a super fast burst to get downhill and will also hit the three off the catch in rhythm. He will collect steals in bunches with his speed and quickness. </p>

<p>An active growing wing forward is a two-way player. He defends multiple positions with his impressive height and length. He will score with catch threes and off of the pick and roll game plus can get downhill with longer strides. </p>

<p>An active power forward is getting his first taste of varsity as he had to sit out last year on JV with the double transfer rule. He will score with rip thrus, he gets on the glass with some vertical pop with offensive rebound put backs and he is a good passer for a forward. He is a good ball handler for his positon too. </p>

<p>A lefty power forward is a very good rebounder. He handles the ball well and can make a play to a teammate. He plays the game like a point forward type as a power forward with his cerebral approach. He has good post footwork and toughness to bang inside. </p>

<p>A cerebral point guard who can play on or off the ball. He is a catch and shoot three point sniper who relocates to open spots on the floor to get open. He has one of those picture perfect strokes with flawless ball rotation and gets it off his hands quickly. He thinks the game and will only shoot when open. </p>

<p>An active power forward is an efficient player inside. He scores with offensive rebound put backs and plays with a big motor to rebound in and out of his area. He is ready to catch passes in the post and goes to work. He will be one of their main guys next year. </p>

<p>A power forward with good activity who is highly skilled. He is a very good rebounder and scores it effectively with hook shots and offensive rebound put backs. He keeps plays alive on the glass, sets picks and runs the floor. </p>

<p>A good size power forward who is a plus rebounder in and out of his area. He can face up to the three point line and he is good in the paint to score. He is a very good passer out of the high post and when he gets doubled teamed, as he always seems to find a teammate in stride. </p>

<p>An active and athletic power forward with great activity. He gets on the glass with his size and quick springs off the floor. He is a graceful mover and will outrace his opponents for scores and has good hands to catch tough passes and will go up for the two. </p>

<p>A combo guard who plays on or off the ball is one of the teams main knockdown shooters. He will rattle in triples one by one. He hit three straight in a close contest in one of their games but splashed in a bunch all weekend long. He plays smartly and knows when to move the ball or launch the shot. </p>

<p>A scoring point guard is highly skilled and smart. He has a good pace to his game and will score with deep jumpers, fall aways from mid-range and can take it to the basket and finish with plus body control. He is a good passer up the court and should breakout this year. </p>

<p>A fast and quick combo guard can pour in points. The lefty handles it well and can create his own offense with crossovers into mid-range jumpers, floaters, step thrus with his left hand and hit the three off the catch. </p>
