Multi-Sport Athletes

The '27 power forward batch features several multi-sport athletes.

Outside linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='2750445' first='Omarii' last='Sanders'] (Franklin Road Academy) played some center for FRA last year. The guy is a freak of an athlete. Apparently, he stars on the football field. [player_tooltip player_id='2750445' first='Omarii' last='Sanders']' football offer list is: Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Liberty, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Purdue, SMU, South Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Tulane, UCF, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Austin Peay, Ball State, Duke, Marshall, Miami (Oh), and UConn.

So, yeah...he is good at football.

[player_tooltip player_id='1277258' first='Tahj' last='Bowers'] (Knox Webb) is a tight end at 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds. "He missed the entire [basketball] season last year with a torn shoulder," said Knox Webb Head Coach Ricky Norris.

[player_tooltip player_id='2719374' first='Gaven' last='French'] (Heritage) ranks in the Top 160 as a basketball player and yet looks destined to play college baseball. As a sophomore he hit .476 with 13 doubles and six homeruns! French plays baseball instead of basketball during the summer months. For Heritage High he plays three sports for now. That will possibly drop off as he focuses on baseball.

Raw Power

Power forwards can be powerful. It is in the name, for goodness sakes. Take a look at a few bigs who fit the name.

[player_tooltip player_id='2781134' first='Christian' last='Coleman'] (Collierville) features the perfect high school forward body. Lean and mean. Christian will be a star this next season and that is why we ran him #16 overall. At 6-foot-6 Coleman rebounds at an elite level and can handle the ball some too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2765368' first='Jake' last='Burger'] is a player we "found" during the postseason. Burger is a throwback big man, maybe a center at 6-foot-7. His body is similar to graduated Breydon Turnage (Dyersburg), who ultimately signed to play offensive lineman in the Southeastern Conference. Burger does his damage around the basket and screens as you would expect...hard.
