Augustana University Team Camp: Main Takeaways

<p>Prep Hoops Dakotas was able to stop into the Augustana University team camp yesterday. I was only available for a few games, but it was well worth it. <br><br>The camp consisted of some of the top prospects in the state in multiple classes. Sioux Falls Christian brought their plethora of high-end prospects, including #1 ranked South Dakota 2027 prospect, [player_tooltip player_id='2128940' first='Brant' last='Wassenaar']. And O'Gorman looks like they are not going to have to rebuild, as they will be having a few players in line for breakout seasons, as well. <br></p>   <p>In this post, I'm just going recollect the main developments I was able to see at the team camp. I will have one more article covering the other bases.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Brant was the headliner of the camp, as the top 2027 prospect in the state. He was getting some extra defensive-help bodies swayed in his direction to keep him from completely blowing by his matchup. If he gained a small step, you saw a couple help defenders step in. So Brant then decided to show off his elite vision and distributing as well. With Brant's complete skillset, he's impossible to completely take out of a game. If you focus on one thing, he'll counter that with his deep bag.</p>     <p>Cooper is coming back from a knee injury that occurred at the state A tournament. He looked good at the team camp and is trending in the right direction. Needs to get that pure explosiveness back so he can play above the rim.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/spencer_c3scout/status/1931173427173642701?s=61 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">I knew that Cisse was gaining steam as stock-riser going into the camp, and I was anticipating strides of growth from him, but he opened my eyes with his ubsurd top-end speed and athleticism. His bounce is on an elite level as well. He perfectly times his jumps to get up at a high point for rebounds and will immediately accelerate up the court with the ball. Stock is up and I think we see a breakout season for Cisse at O'Gorman.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/spencer_c3scout/status/1931067502064202001?s=61 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">St. Mary graduated two 20-point scorers. So there's a lot of opportunity for a breakout scorer this season for them. Enter in point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1559131' first='Trimmier' last='Hanson'] into the equation. Trimmier is going to get ridiculous usage at the point and he will have the ultimate greenlight. I think he can score 20+ and be an all-state player. He looked really talented offensively and was highly-confident with the ball, yesterday. He did a little bit of everything— getting to the rim, pulling from three, showing a middle game. He's always had that skill and ability, but now he has full opportunity this coming season to have the potential to take games over.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Weber looked like a man amongst boys at the camp. A superb blend of length and athleticism in South Dakota. You can clearly see he's slowly becoming a better athlete and his movement and coordination is trending up. Not much else of note, but he is becoming a highly-efficient finisher and high percentage shotmaker extending beyond the middle area. Positive report here for Dieleman.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Clark was really good and I think he takes a big step this season. His handle was really good and his ability to get going North and South down the middle was key. He is with [program_tooltip program_id='2222672' first='Sanford' last='Sports Academy SF'] top 17U team and I think the consistent quality of competition he's seeing all Summer will give him confidence to not be shy to be an offensive factor in the high school ranks.<br></p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Braylen was with Sioux Falls Jefferson last season and he's now hooping with O'Gorman. He looked like a key guy for them. His defensive ability might be a talking point and factor in him being a key contributor for O'Gorman. He brings an overall intensity and desire on defense. He was put on Wassanaar and Yellow Bird accepted the challenge without fear.</p>
