Saturday was a loaded day at the JR Raptors Shootout at Rich Township High School. Over 30 teams mostly from Illinois and a couple from nearby Indiana were in attendance. Here are the upperclassmen who stood out.

Terrence Hayes 6'3 21 Century 2026

Hayes was the talk of the gym on Saturday afternoon. One of the top guards from the state of Indiana put on one heck of a show. He's a do-it-all type of guard who plays with aggression and skill with a very good understanding of the game. Terrence easily scored from all three levels and distributed the ball at an equal rate. The lefty showed good shooting mechanics and how strong his handle was even in tight situations. On the other side he was all over the court causing havoc on defense. Hayes in one play blocked a shot at the rim then scrambled out to his man, jumped the pass for a steal, then dunked it on the opposite end. With efforts like that it was no wonder he recently picked up multiple offers heading into this June live period weekend. He was the best player in the gym and maybe in the Midwest.

[player_tooltip player_id='2734369' first='Justin' last='Oliver'] 6'1 Curie 2026

Oliver could be the best PG in the Chicagoland area. He plays at either pace of the game. He is a natural facilitator that can score from all three levels. Justin should have a nice amount of colleges on hand during the live period as he has played himself into a scholarship opportunity for D1s.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552475' first='Marquis' last='Clark'] 6'3 Whitney Young 2026

Clark is the purest scorer in the state. You can give him the ball and more times than not he has a bucket. Marquis played at his own pace as he was just as good at distributing the ball to the younger guys on Saturday.

[player_tooltip player_id='1845356' first='Jaali' last='Love'] 6'7 Waukegan 2026

The highly active Love was all over the court. Made many plays on offense playing as a face-up big man and he could become a wing in college with how well he moves. Rico made many energy plays with his dunks and blocks that were momentum changers for his team.

[player_tooltip player_id='2416041' first='Brad' last='Blackman'] 6'6 Crane 6'6 2026

Arguably the best shot blocker in the state. Brad had several rejections and pretty much controlled the glass in every game the Cougars played. Blackman has improved as an inside post player. Short jump hooks and the ability to finish through contact will jump his scoring averages up this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2734366' first='Jayden' last='Williams'] 6'4 Rich Township 2026

Williams is a three-level scoring threat. He made a handful of threes on Saturday. He had the whole gym buzzing with his crazy takeoff dunk in the main gym. Will be a player coaches watch during the live period next weekend.

Kendall Holliday 6'4 Curie 2026

Kendall is a high-motor wing who had a couple of rim-rattling dunks off fastbreaks. He gets after it on defense using good timing to get steals. Offensively he is capable of making outside shots and finishing in the lane on straight-lined drives.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552444' first='Carter' last='Newsome'] 5'11 Waukegan 2026

Newsome is a very underrated guard who does a terrific job of controlling the tempo for his team. He was shifty with the rock distributing the wealth to teammates. His shot was solid from 15 feet and out. Carter is a sleeper in the class that will take many schools up in June.

Cedrick Carter 6'8 Intrinsic HS 2026

An unknown player to most Carter is a legit pick n' pop threat who attends a little-known high school in downtown Chicago. He has a good size and skill set. Cedrick can score from three and is capable of shooting from NBA range. He is mobile and is figuring out how to play out of the mid-post and near the basket. On defense he is active on the glass in and out of his area. A very good shot blocker. If you're not careful Carter does have the ability to put defenders on a poster. Late blooming big man who will be coveted by colleges.

Troy Garner 6'3 Rich Township 2026

The human highlight in Illinois basketball. The NIU football commit made plays on the court and they were all above the rim. Garner has video game athleticism and likes to showcase it in fastbreaks. He made many bone-handed take-off dunks that excited the crowd. He challenged anything near the rim as he showed great timing on help-side blocks. Troy will be a fun player to watch during his senior year for the upcoming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2391336' first='Ian' last='Flowers'] Perspectives 6'4 Leadership 2026

Flowers has made an easy transition to the leadership campus. He showed good touch from outside making many of his shots in catch and shoot situations. A few times he got to the basket and used his size and agility to finish around the rim. He is still a bit under the radar but is primed for a good summer session for schools to take notice.
