2026 Do-it-all guards that caught my eye in Round Rock

Basketball begins and ends with guard play. It's the engine, the metronome, the decision-making center of the court. At the 8th Annual Road to Nationals Super Regionals in Round Rock, TX, guard play wasn't just productive, it was exceptional.   Five high school guards, each from the Class of 2026, stood out for their poise, versatility, and ability to control games. Whether it was scoring, facilitating, defending, or simply making the right reads, these young men demonstrated qualities that translate well to the next level.    Parks is a high-motor lead guard with advanced physicality for his size. He plays with purpose—his handle is tight, his first step is explosive, and he has a deep finishing package that includes floaters, pull-ups, and strong takes through contact. He's also a tenacious on-ball defender, consistently fighting through screens and pressuring ball handlers without fouling. What impressed most was his command of the game from tip-off to final buzzer. His leadership on the court helped lead his team(WC Warriors-Killeen) to an undefeated weekend and the tournament championship.     Bowen is as fundamentally sound as he is efficient. He shoots it well from deep—off the dribble or catch—and has an excellent feel for when to score and when to facilitate. He made high-level reads all weekend for a very talented SA Rhythm and showed consistency in both half-court and transition settings. What separates Bowen is his steadiness. He doesn't force plays. He plays with control, communicates effectively, and elevates teammates with his timely decisions. He's a guard you can trust to manage a game and to get you a timely bucket.     Loggins plays with length and lateral quickness that immediately impact the defensive end. He's a standout perimeter defender, capable of guarding multiple positions, and generates numerous turnovers through sheer effort and anticipation. Offensively, he's a slasher who thrives in transition but also shows touch in the midrange. In a semifinal matchup that put his WC Warriors Killeen team against the SA Rhythm, Loggins put together an 8-point burst that highlighted his ability to score in multiple ways. High ceiling, high motor.     Zammoron brings a scorer's mentality with an unselfish approach. His offensive arsenal is diverse—he can get downhill, shoot it from range, and finish through traffic. But what stood out to me this weekend was his adaptability. Whether it was scoring, rebounding, defending, or diving for loose balls, Zammoron filled gaps and made winning plays. He helped lead the Bobcats to the championship game and did so with composure. His game is built on toughness and intelligence.      McNeil is one of those players who simply understands spacing and timing. He moves well without the ball, reads defenses effectively, and can shoot it from all over the floor. He doesn't over-dribble, sees the court well, and consistently makes the right play. His defensive energy complemented his offensive efficiency, making him a reliable two-way contributor. McNeil's basketball instincts are well-developed, and his floor game reflects a high level of discipline.
