The first live event of the Prep Hopps Circuit commenced just off of historic Route 66 this past weekend. Taking place outside of Chicago, I was able to catch players from states throughout the Midwest.

With the event locale falling near the literal dead center point in the South Shore of Lake Michigan. It's feels appropriate to group players from the Eastern and Western shores of the Big Lake. Accordingly below are standouts from the great states of Wisconsin and Michigan from the 2026 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='2364732' first='Quincy' last='Mosley'] 6-1 Madison West (pictured) Bruising and physical Madison guard had a big game in his team's closing Sunday victory. Did it against a solid [program_tooltip program_id='2076061' first='Detroit' last='Bulldogs'] squad. Got to the basket with ease, showing a quick first step. Once at the basket, created space to finish with his broad shoulders and thick frame. As you would expect from the physical description. Also adept at getting to the foul line. Was more than just a bully ball driver though. After a slow start, began to hit threes in the second half. Finished with 22 points in the Sunday victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='2618111' first='Evan' last='Breidel'] 6-6 Edgewood While Mosley was providing the perimeter fireworks. Breidel was holding it down on the block for his Legacy Elite squad. Long and lanky frame made him a factor on the defensive end and helped him play taller than his listed height. Fluid athlete who ran the court well for his size. Long strider who covered a log of ground. Contributions didn't necessarily show up on a stat sheet

[player_tooltip player_id='2402461' first='Messiah' last='Chambers'] 6-2 Wauwatosa West Milwaukee area [program_tooltip program_id='2075260' first='ABP' last='Athletics'] had a strong 3-1 record on the strength of their backcourt laden roster. You could a few different ways with their litany of guards. I liked the potential and length of Chambers. Played and finished with ease at the rim. Did this with what appeared be an impressive wingspan. Also got off the ground quickly with sudden elevation. Should form a nice backcourt next year with fellow ABP teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1558479' first='DJ' last='Hennings'] at West next year.

Michigan

[player_tooltip player_id='1588213' first='Jaiden' last='Price'] 5-8 Pontiac Pint sized point simply had a nose for the basket. The lack of vertical size might hurt in finding a home at the next level. However his highly compact frame and the ability to play low to the ground are huge advantages at this level. Hard to turnover and isn't going to get knocked off his spot on penetration. Despite not being a huge leaper. Was a creative and efficient finisher around the rim. Put up 31 points in a Saturday night victory over Illinois Ice 2027. Pontiac recently named Motor City legend Dion Harris (Michigan) as their new head coach. Harris has a solid point guard to build with in Price.

[player_tooltip player_id='2439610' first='Carson' last='Otto'] 6-3 Sterling Heights Otto put together a breakout weekend for his [program_tooltip program_id='2076061' first='Detroit' last='Bulldogs'] unit. I was particularly impressed with a Saturday afternoon victory over a good [program_tooltip program_id='2075260' first='ABP' last='Athletics'] squad (see above) It was ABP's only loss of the weekend. At 6-3 has the advanced ball handling ability to be a true lead guard. Can score in a variety ways. Both off the dribble and as a movement shooter. Put up an efficient and much needed 31 points in the close ABP victory. Showed toughness in that game. As he played through some physical defense and took a shot to the face. More than just a one hit wonder though. Averaged nearly 28 points over the entire weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='2823052' first='Chase' last='Dyer'] 6-2 Wayne Memorial While Otto was providing the scoring touch for the Bulldogs. Dyer was the steady floor general. Used a nice handle to get to his spots on the perimeter and to the rim. Finished at the cup with both hands. Has a slender frame that he will need to add weight to. Despite that, played with toughness and did not seem to mind contact. Coming off Division I state final appearance. He has some work to do earn time in the Zebras backcourt. He is most certainly putting the work in. With a recent high profile transfer. The path might be a little clearer. Dyer could surprise with more opportunity in his senior campaign.
