At Prep Hoops Brawl For The Ball, my main focus turned out to be the younger divisions, particularly the 14U and 13U groups. But I did catch some 17U-15U live and also went back on BallerTV to look at the South Dakota 17U-15U prospects. The three 17U-15U South Dakota programs that took their teams to Brawl For The Ball were [program_tooltip program_id='2228190' first='TEAM' last='Warwick'], Impact, and 15U [program_tooltip program_id='2855860' first='E3' last='Elite'] out of Rapid City, South Dakota. I did catch all three programs and their respective teams at least once, so I'm here to bring you some South Dakota stock-risers from the tournament.

Sapp is continually to look improved physically and athletically. He's lengthening at a consistent pace and he's moving really well and showing he can rise up off of the ground. He started out on the perimeter offensively and his handle looked really good and was able to drive from the 3-point line all the way to the rim, without limitation. His handle looked surprisingly comfortable and fluid. His ability to finish in an efficient manner at the rim stoodout as well. He'll be inching up to the top 10-12 2027 prospects, if I had to guess right now.

Shawd has officially blown up already this offseason. Time will tell after this weekend after seeing some of the other 2027's at Prep Hoops Battle At The Lakes, but Shawd is looking like a top 10 2027 prospect, as it stands. Gavin handled the ball for [program_tooltip program_id='2832803' first='Impact' last=''] 16U when [player_tooltip player_id='2353685' first='Hudson' last='King'] was resting, and he looked fairly comfortable doing so, so I moved his position to a combo guard role. He may have to handle the ball more for Tea Area as well next season, and it's not a bad idea because he's such a dangerous scorer with the ball in his hands.

Wow, is Mitch really developing physically — and quickly. He's a fine-looking athlete that looks built for sport and competition. After watching the film, Grant's handle on the ball is slightly better than I had expected. I also moved his position over to combo guard from a straight shooting guard role. I would love to see him work really hard on his ball-handling skillset and become a pure point guard with great size, athleticism and skill, to go along with his elite defensive capabilities. He's the best shot-blocking guard in the state, and it may not even be a competition. If I were to update the 2028 rankings right now, I'd most likely move him into the #2 spot. I think the upside is massive.

Chance played up a division, playing with Impact 17U-2. Before the tournament, I had Schoenfield as a mere aggressive 3-point shooter with barely average athleticism and solid 6'7” length. His athleticism is better, especially his vertical ability and ability to get up and challenge for the ball in the air. He's also a rim-protector and shot-blocker that would jump straight and sort of wall-up as well at the same time. He ran the floor very quickly both offensively and rushing back on defense. Schoenfield's ranking is set to rise drastically in the next 2027 update, sometime after Battle At The Lakes this weekend.

I saw Mason live and that was enough to take notice of his improved and more aggressive offensive approach and gameplan. He's always had the capability, but now he's finally showing it off this Summer. He got into the middle of the lane often and became a threat to put the ball in the hoop. He was also pushing in transition when he saw an opening.

Hudson was the main ball-handler for Impact 16U-1. He plays with some quickness and toughness. He has a solid handle on the ball and I like his combination of being a distributor of the ball as well as being an offensive threat that will take his opportunities without hesitation. King thrives off of attacking the middle and making things happen from there as a passer or scorer. A knockdown jumpshot, in which he will pull off of the dribble.

Myers was a pretty small 5'5” guard when I saw him last at a Prep Hoops Showcase. He's still on the smaller size but you can tell he's matured physically. His offensive game, skills, and confidence have also matured. He was uber-aggressive as a 3-point shooter in a catch-and-shoot and also a 3-point creator. An elite handle on the ball, that he must work on constantly because that type of skill does not come naturally. If he can keep getting taller, he could be a late-blooming prospect.
