Prep Hoops Brawl For The Ball was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota this past weekend. I paid particular attention to the 14U and 13U divisions and will be able to bring all-tournament teams for the two divisions.

In the 14U group, It was [program_tooltip program_id='2444909' first='Heiser' last='Skills Academy'] and [program_tooltip program_id='2856200' first='Hoop' last='Dakota'] that met in the championship game, with Heiser taking the crown in a tight matchup.

For the 14U division first-team all-tournament team, there were two locks for the team, with tournament MVP [player_tooltip player_id='2427892' first='Carter' last='Porisch'] of [program_tooltip program_id='2856200' first='Hoop' last='Dakota'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2830460' first='Anthony' last='Tracy'] of [program_tooltip program_id='2444909' first='Heiser' last='Skills Academy'] being clear selections. After those two, decisions had to be made and players on teams that had success and placed high in the tournament were given a hand up in the decision-making process.

Porisch of [program_tooltip program_id='2856200' first='Hoop' last='Dakota'] and Huron High School was dominant at Brawl For The Ball and was tournament MVP by a longshot. He has a rare physical build for a 14U prospect at 6'4”, with a big and burly frame. His movement for his size was impressive as well. He would rebound the ball and immediately turn up the court and handle the ball in transition by himself to score going downhill using force and utilizing his frame and size. He was tough to keep off of the offensive glass. He played some bully-ball and was most likely the tournament leading scorer and rebounder.

Tracy was the most explosive and sudden athlete in the 14U division. That equated him to be the best transition guard and best at blowing by defenders off of the dribble. He was an absolute blur in the open court, weaving through multiple defenders. He turned defensive plays and steals on the ball into immediate offense for Heiser. A suffocating defender that played defense the full length of the court. Tracy seemed to have elite conditioning as well. I didn't notice him getting tired or slowing his pace on the court. If he develops his three-point jumpshot, he could become a very serious player.

Heinrich is a lengthy wing/forward in the 6'4” range. I need to go back and watch the film on how efficient he was shooting the ball, but his length and ability to sky up for rebounds and score over defenders was clear. He scored a bunch off of offensive rebounds and was efficient finishing at the hoop, reaching a high-point when he finished. Really good upside for the wing out of Hamlin High School and could be considered a top-tier prospect if he continues to lengthen out.

Cohen made the first-team with a combination of being a top prospect and performing well. It looks like he's grown a couple inches and he's now a confirmed 6'5”, so that's a great sign for his stock that he's trending that way. At the tournament he was a fixture in the paint getting on the glass and finishing through contact at the rim. He's not a shooting threat on the perimeter but he's still comfortable with the ball in his hands out there and can take care of the ball and keep the ball moving without turning it over. A high IQ player on the court that made great decisions with the ball.

E.J. is out of Rapid City, South Dakota with newly developed program named [program_tooltip program_id='2855860' first='E3' last='Elite']. E.J. has a solid all-around profile, with solid size as a 2-guard in the 6'1” range. Plays with a constant motor and plays an attacking offensive style, supplementing that with a consistent jumper. He willed his way off of the drive and showed a nice first-step and ability to continue at the hoop. Could create his own jumper and make them as well.

Asher has a similar build and playstyle as Tracy, with Asher being less explosive in the open court, but a 3-point threat. He made some big ones in the championship win. His threes are consistently on target and he has nice-looking form and mechanics. He defends the ball hard with muscle and elite movement. Great overall athlete with speed and a strong and compact build.
