NorCal Spring Showcase 17u Prospects Pt I

Saturday May 10 PH NorCal was a Chabot College for the NOR CAL Spring Showcase featuring Northern California Prospects 17u, 16u, 15u. There was plenty of talent in the gym. This is part I of the 17U Prospects we saw.    Standing 6'7 he's long with fluid movement. He's a good passer/ball mover, can handle out on the perimeter using a dribble or two for driving or passing. This Spring he's aggressively attacking the basket handling the bumps, running hard up court for transition dunks. He'll shoot the 3 if open. He can effect the game working the high, and mid, post areas. He'll get rebounds, and defend from the post out to the perimeter.       Kruegers having a breakout Spring with his aggressive style of play. He's built up his body, initiating bumps, hard dribbles, and on balance going towards the basket for paint jumpers, or challenging blockers. He'll free himself with a dribble to knock down 3's. He can run point if called to do so. He stays aggressive attacking off ball.     Stringfellow is having a good Spring of basketball. He's playing confident and aggressive. Standing 6'3 with a solid body, he's showing an improved offensive skill set, hitting the mid-range jumper, taking and making 3's at the right time. He's going to the basket strong in transition. He's playing hard, and aggressive on the defensive side of the ball, and helping rebound. Consistency will be key.     A newcomer did well running the offense. He showed himself to be more than just a point guard, he can put points on the board with good moves to the basket, and knocking down the open 3ptr. He has good ball handling, and passing, he keeps his dribble live up top waiting for plays to develop. His lateral movement and feet helps him stick to who ever he's guarding, he can run with them.     He's a good on ball defender, handles the switching well, recovers fast, he has quick hands stabbing at the ball generating steals, then making the long pass up court. He sets up well in the corners to knock down catch 3's with lift and a good release. He has good handles to run the point, he'll use a quick first step to attack defenders for drive and kicks or dump offs.     He's an experienced guard that runs the point, but can generate offense working off ball. He gets the ball up court fast, has vision, an excellent passer, always looking to pass it up court. He has the handles, and moves to go by defenders, get into the paint looking for assists or paint jumpers. He executes the pick and roll, hits the big in stride up high. He'll get hot putting up 3's.     A long arm guard plays off ball mostly. He's a ball mover around the perimeter, he'll drive hard along the baseline. He spots up around the perimeter for a catch and shoot. He's a good defender with foot speed hustling over to trap, never giving up on the play. He'll challenge you on drives to the basket going after blocks. He runs wide in transition ready to shoot a 3ptr.     A solid combo guard, makes good decisions with the ball. He showed his aggressiveness on the defensive side of the ball, picking up full court applying good on ball pressure, he got a couple of steals using quick hands. He' s a good ball handler, and ball mover, with good crossover moves going towards the basket. He'll pull up for 3's.     One of NorCal's better 3-point shooters has been working this Spring to add balance to his game. He's 6'4 running the point guard position, working on his ball handling, passing, and decision making. The long wiry shooting guard is making progress. We're seeing improved handles going to the basket, he's using his length to finish around the rim. He's handling ball pressure bringing the ball up court.     A hard playing guard, he's active on both sides of the court. He finds ways to contribute. At 6'2 he'll battle for a rebounding, come out pushing it up court. He has good handles to makes his way into the paint for strong finishes. He runs hard, finishes strong in transition. He can hit the 3-point shot. He's a scrappy defender with good foot speed and lateral movement, making you work for points.
