NOR CAL SPRING SHOWCASE 16U

PH NorCal was at Chabot College Saturday May 10 for the Spring Showcase featuring teams from Northern California. We saw up and coming prospects in NorCal looking make an impression as we go deeper into Spring basketball. He are some of the prospects we saw at the 16U level.    Always makes his presence felt at some point in the game. Good fundamentals. He has a versatile skill set he continues to expand. At this level standing 6'5 he can play the inside/out game. A solid body and footwork to score inside. He's a triple threat from the high post. He can stick the free throw jumper, use his dribble to get to the rim, and he's an excellent passer. He'll works the perimeters with handling and passing, before cutting. He gets his rebounds, and defends the post area. 17U       He showed his full arsenal at the 16u level. He used his length to finish at, and above the rim, including multiple dunks in transition. He rebounded and pushed the break showing he can handle, and pass it up. He filled lanes in transition. He can work from the high post or out along the perimeter driving it inside for finishes.     Standing 6'4 and growing, he's a strong, hard playing prospect. He gives good effort defending and going after rebounds, his offensive continues to grow. He's strong going up in the paint. He strong drives into the paint, he finishes in transition. He has the size, foot speed, and determination to be a top notch defender.     He's a good 3-point shooter in the class. He struggled a bit to get the shot to go down, he took good shots. He's fine tuning his play as a point guard, who can drop 3's. He settled the offense in half-court keeping his dribble live making good decisions. He pushed with good speed, made the long pass up in transition. He has good passing, and movement along the perimeter.     He has the speed and handles to go by defenders regularly, using quick crossovers, and a burst. He has the body to handle contact. He's a willing passer, seeing the court looking to make the pass up, and around the perimeter. He'll dish, dump, and kick it out on the drive. He can be aggressive looking to put points on the board.     He's doing a little bit of everything, playing with balance. He's a growing body. He's moving and making good cuts through the lane without the ball. He's getting rebounds, with good passing up court. He has the size at the 16u level to get points in the paint. He might be underrated as a passer. He finishes in transition. He's moving his feet defending on the perimeter. We've seen him hit corner 3's and drive the baseline.     He's long and still growing. It looks like he's developing his game away from the basket. He's spent a good amount of time roaming the perimeters, he shot corner 3's, used two dribbles out on the perimeter to get to the paint. He needs to get stronger, but has the length to get points, and rebounds in the paint. We'll keep an eye on him.     A fast guard with good handles, likes to push it putting pressure on the defense. He has a quick step with a crossover driving looking to kick it out to shooters, find his bigs, or finish layups with either hand high off the glass. He can hit the mid-range jumper. He has good speed helping and trapping on defense.     He's fine tuning his body, and skill set for the guard position. He's moving faster. He has improving handles, using his body and dribble for hard drives into the paint. He's a ball mover, good passer, but does look for his shot. He spots up around the perimeter, will shoot if open.     He makes good use his body handling bumps to finish drives to the basket. He's a ball mover, makes good cuts to the basket. He sees the court, will make the extra pass up and around the court. He'll shoot open 3's. He has the foot speed to stick to ball handlers, he'll get a steal.     He has a good all around set of skills for a guard. He'll get some seasoning this Spring to continue growing his game. He's a good ball handler, passer, and mover. He has the handles, and body to attack the basket off the dribble. He plays on balance at a good pace. He has the foot speed to defend. We'll see more
