On Saturday, I attended the New England Jam Fest at Dana Barros Basketball Club in Stoughton, MA. The event was filled with college prospects (and coaches) from all levels, and there were some really awesome matches. Over the next couple days, I'll be breaking down some of the standout players I saw. As always, it's impossible to catch every game and every player, and I try to strike a balance between seeing as many players as possible while also getting to know their games enough to accurately scout them.

Here are some 6-foot and over guards who stood out.

OConnell seems to be the heart and soul of the Magic HGSL squad. The 6-foot-1 point guard is an absolute dog on defense and is constantly using his active hands and lateral quickness to beat offensive players to the spot for easy steals and charges. Offensively, he's an and-one machine because he gets to two feet in the paint consistently and takes contact very well in the air. He can also knock down threes with ease and is always willing to make the extra pass. The Cushing Academy guard should be a solid role player for their squad next season and I would guess he'll play D3 ball at the highest possible level.

Steele is a talented ball-handler who confidently runs the show for CT Force. He's effective in the pick and roll as a decision-maker and is great at making the pocket pass to rolling bigs. Once he gets to the rim, he's also able to elevate well and finish above the rim despite his lack of size, and he's able to get there by using his super quick first-step and change of pace dribbles. I'm sure he'll be able to find a D3 fit somewhere, though his size will likely limit his recruitment ceiling. Regardless, Steele will make a college coach super happy with his ability to compete on both ends and hit shots.

I was ridiculously impressed by not only Brigham's ability, but his willingness to take contact. He probably ended up on the floor about 8 times during the half that I watched him, and each of them were legitimate foul calls that he got free throws for; The 6-foot-3 guard is skinny in stature but seeks the bodies of big men in the lane and uses his athleticism to get to the line constantly. He has mastered the art of foul-drawing, something very few high school players have. He's also a talented outside shooter who can handle it to get to his spots on the floor. Should be a D3 college player somewhere.

Uhunmwuagho is a bulldozer of a guard. The 6-foot-2 senior is a freight train in transition and holds his line incredibly well while defenders are trying to push him off his spot. At the hoop, he elevates well and takes contact in the air super effectively, which helps him finish amongst the threes. He probably won't be a scholarship player but the OTE-bound senior should get college looks exclusively as a result of his physical frame and tools. He can also shoot it a bit from three and defends the guard position quite well.

Brown was probably the best primary creator on House We Built and had a field day puncturing the paint on the offensive end. The 6-foot-2 guard is a freight train in transition and holds his line super effectively with defenders on his back and hips; he has a running back build and is super tough. In the paint, he has solid touch and decision making, as he was consistently able to slow himself down and make plays for himself or others. Brown will be taking a PG year at St. Andrews next season and should have a great opportunity to play solid minutes there.

Oden-Tann is a wiry athlete who excels attacking downhill and in transition. The 6-foot-2 guard is skinny in his upper body but has a burst to his dribble game that allows him to get to the rim with ease, and he's a crafty finisher at the hoop once he gets there. He has nice touch off the glass and can finish well with both hands and through contact. His lack of strength could certainly hinder his college chances but he should be able to find a D3 school somewhere as a really solid athlete who can get out on the break and attack the hoop.
