Jr. All City Classic: Game One wing/forward standouts

All City Classic week kicked off on Tuesday night with the annual Jr. All City Classic showcasing the Philly area's top incoming freshmen over the course of two all-star games. After taking in both games of action, we'll start by highlighting standouts among an intriguing group of wings and forwards in the evening's opening contest.    The biggest player in the game made arguably the loudest impact as Quackenbush showcased an enticing set of tools to build on over time. A long and fluid lefty, he made his impact as a rim-runner with soft hands and developing touch as a finisher inside, while really shining on the other end as a shot-blocker and rebounder. Quick flashes that he showed off the dribble and making decisions on the move point to quite the upside as the southpaw who just recently turned 14 continues to develop into high school.     His production didn't jump off the page but Cameron nonetheless stood out as one of the more intriguing long-term prospects we saw all night. With an impressive intersection of length, fluidity, and positional size, he impressed as a well-rounded wing while showing appealing flashes in each of the dribble/pass/shoot categories. His poise and feel for the game with the ball in his hands was among the very best of the wings and forwards in either game. It looks like Cameron could have a chance to see the floor from day one at LC.     A Jack-of-all-trades who could have easily fallen into the backcourt category, Atkins caught the eye early on and impressed throughout with his aggressiveness and versatility. With quick feet and a sturdy frame, he used a blend of skill and athleticism to navigate to his spots for a handful of crafty reads as both a scorer and playmaker. His physical tools and well-rounded nature make him an easy candidate to be on a varsity floor relatively early on. The son of St. Joe's legend Rashid Bey, Atkins certainly has a chance to emerge on the recruiting front in his own right down the line.     Among both the biggest and youngest prospects taking part in either game, Simon picked up steam as the game went on for the Black team while showcasing his impressive motor and athleticism. He was most impactful on the defensive end, flying around as a rim protector while showing the mobility that should make him a versatile switch defender down the line. We'll have to see more from his offensive skill in further evaluations, but Simon's energy and length make him a perfect fit for an ANC program known to excel in both categories.     Among the most athletic prospects in the entire event, Corbin was impossible to miss coming off the bench for the White team. A bundle of energy on the wing, he showcased an explosive first step and impressive body control on a number of bursts to the cup. Flashes of playmaking feel and ball skills in the open floor point to a potentially intriguing upside if harnessed over time to match Corbin's impressive natural tools.
