The club/grassroots season is starting to heat up, before we get too deep into spring basketball, PHD wants to look back at the high school season.   In this article, we are highlighting two class B squads who are both from Region 3. One squad is from District 5 and the other competes in District 6. "I thought we had a successful season with an upward trajectory all year, finishing the season with a District Championship and qualifying for Regionals."   PHD: Do you have any fun memories to share with us?   "Best memory of the season is being able to look back and appreciate a group of guys who all were very well connected, great teammates, and all did their job to the best of their abilities every day. The District Tournament was great. The atmosphere, the crowds, and the support were all phenomenal, and then coming home with the Title was pretty special."   PHD: How did your team overcome adversity?   "We really focused on staying connected, being great teammates, and doing things to our standards."   PHD: What are a few things your team improved on this season?   "We made some huge strides defensively and rebounding."   PHD: Who are some role players that stood out to you?   "'Roles are different, status is the same' is a line we use daily and I thought our guys were all superstars in their roles. [player_tooltip player_id='1951583' first='Grayde' last='Parizek'] provided us with toughness and energy, [player_tooltip player_id='2673258' first='Colton' last='Grove'] had some huge minutes and defended and rebounded really well, and [player_tooltip player_id='2673386' first='Landon' last='Barman'] played tremendous D and hit some big shots for us."   PHD: Can you talk about your seniors?   "No seniors."    PHD: Who are some up-and-comers to look out for?   "We have a big freshman class where I think some of those guys have the potential to emerge into big contributors, and behind them we have some talented JH kids that will be in the mix in the years to come."   PHD: Who was your best defensive player?   "[player_tooltip player_id='2442325' first='Ty' last='Barman'] led us in steals and blocks shots this year. His effectiveness on the defensive end comes from a combination of great length, timing, instincts, and anticipation."   PHD: Who was your top interior player?   "Inside we went to [player_tooltip player_id='2414701' first='Jace' last='Becker'] a lot. His footwork is as good as you'll find, patient and smart."   PHD: Any last comments/thoughts on the season?   "It was a great year and we are excited about what the future holds for us." Our program made giant strides, we were no longer just an athletic team, we were a basketball team and a pretty dang good one. I am incredibly blessed to have coached this group, love this team." He led in every category except scoring, in which he was second. He is a generational talent with high character. He ended his career with over 1000 points, 500 rebounds, 200 assists." His 4 years in our program will never be forgotten." "One of the better seasons in this program's history, our only losses came to 1-2-3 in the state."    PHD: Do you have any fun memories you want to share with us?   "This group has a lot of personality, I know we laughed every day together at some point. They also started their own trick shot page, which was something to see live."   PHD: How did your team overcome adversity?   "Never missed a beat, after an injury or tough loss, they bounced back and stepped up every time. Tough Tough young men."   PHD: What are a few things your team improved on throughout the season?   "Our man-to-man defense and our depth grew immensely along the way."   PHD: Who are some role players that stood out to you?   "[player_tooltip player_id='2674884' first='Cooper' last='Kittleson'], [player_tooltip player_id='2844942' first='Reese' last='Steffen'] & [player_tooltip player_id='2844947' first='Mason' last='Kraft']- 3 juniors that oftentimes got tasked with guarding the opponent's best players. They rose to the challenge every time."   PHD: Can you talk about your seniors & what will be missed?   "Everything. Truly everything. The 4 years spent with these seniors were the best years of my career so far, they worked hard and did things the right way. They are young men ready for the real world."   PHD: Who are some up-and-comers to look out for?    "[player_tooltip player_id='2674884' first='Cooper' last='Kittleson'] has a ton of varsity experience, he will also step into the QB role this fall, filling [player_tooltip player_id='1329684' first='Ben' last='Schepp']'s shoes. He is ready and we will all see it next season. He will be a surprise to some, not to us."   "[player_tooltip player_id='1891617' first='Luke' last='Selzler'] returns from injury next year, at 6'3 230 he is a game changer under the rim and at the 3 point line. He will bring toughness we lost from the senior group."   "[player_tooltip player_id='2844947' first='Mason' last='Kraft'] 6'2 Junior that will take over one of our forward spots, physically gifted and can shoot the ball."   "Kason Larsen - Sharp shooter, ready for his chance to hit the floor and fill it up."   "[player_tooltip player_id='2237843' first='Wesley' last='Nickelson'] will take over at point, this sophomore can make a lot of plays. very dynamic. Can score and defend at a high level."   "[player_tooltip player_id='2674885' first='Matt' last='Bryant'] is a 6'5 Junior, we need him to anchor the paint next year."   "[player_tooltip player_id='2412687' first='Kage' last='Kambeitz'] is another sophomore who rebuilt his game and will be a big piece for us next season."   PHD: Who was your best defensive player?   "[player_tooltip player_id='2844942' first='Reese' last='Steffen'], gritty, has length, can run and move side to side, never backs down, wants the biggest challenge. He will be a star on this team next year."   PHD: Any last comments/thoughts on the season?   "I truly believe we were a top 5 team in Division B this season and I love that we attacked the process no matter who was ahead of us in this District. Our program is as good as ever. Off-season is already underway, no time to waste in a loaded Region like this! Love being an Aggie."
