Here's a list of 2027 prospects that we have ranked or on our watchlist that we think will have breakout seasons or get considerable varsity time going forward. These prospects might also be competing at a high level currently on an AAU circuit.

[player_tooltip player_id='2840106' first='Charlie' last='Long'] might be the best post player you don't know about. A true 6'5" post player, Long does an impressive job with his feet to score and defend. Long's Wahama squad was hit with some significant graduation losses which means Long will play a much bigger role during next season. He's certainly big enough and talented enough to average a double double.

[player_tooltip player_id='2816041' first='Nico' last='Kusic'] is a player who we thought showed some great upside in the state tournament. With graduation from this 2025 class, look for Kusic to take over as the starting two guard while bringing a ton of experience and talent. Kusic will have to be a facilitator as well as long range threat to compliment his returning teammates. I don't think you can label Kusic one particular kind of player just yet, but we can say he's a good basketball player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2508622' first='Isaiah' last='Scott'] looks more and more like he's ready to take over at South Charleston. After graduation and a couple transfer departures, Scott appears to be the most talented South Charleston player returning next season. An athletic sharpshooting guard who has great length at 6'4" and can shoot over most defenders. Scott could be one of the top players in the Kanawha Valley in all classes next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2721088' first='Jay' last='Bordas'] who lit up the gridiron this past fall has shown he has the same moxie on the hardwood as the football field. Bordas posted some huge games during the Wheeling Park season and looks to be a long term problem for opponents in the future. Park has struggled getting wins as of late but the emergence of Bordas will help swing that in the other direction.

[player_tooltip player_id='2639442' first='Kyler' last='Carpenter'] is possibly the player on this list with the most upside and highest ceiling. Playing at Summit Christian he's often overlooked even with SC playing lots of SSAC schools. Carpenter is a long 6'5" athlete who shows solid athleticism in transition, good shot making ability in mid-range and seems to handle the ball very well for a big guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='2376733' first='Hendrix' last='Cook'] has remained steady in his development while playing in a tremendously talented Westside program. But next season Cook will be tasked with playing very meaningful minutes and contributing in some ways. Cook has solid guard skills, finishing skills and puts it on the floor very well. This should bode well for him going forward and boost his playing time quite a bit.

[player_tooltip player_id='2434923' first='David' last='Kucish'] was on the floor quite a bit this season for the Huskies, but not as a scorer but rather a defensive stopper for opponents guards. Kucish always got matched up with the opponents best guard and made the most of his opportunity.
