New England’s 2028 Point Guards

Rankings week coverage continues for the Class of 2028 with a look at the Point Guard spot.   Below are five prospects of note at the Point Guard position in New England's Class of 2028.   [player_tooltip player_id='2526248' first='Adriel' last='Cantave']   Cantave, a 6'1" guard from St. George's, burst onto the prep scene this winter, making an immediate impact for one of the better teams in the NEPSAC. Already a plus athlete, he has good positional size and the strength needed to finish plays through contact. He does a great job of creating space off the bounce, has blow by ability in isolation, and finishes in a variety of ways at the rim. He's terrific in transition, both as a finisher and as a creator, and also shines on the defensive end of the floor where he can guard either back-court spot at a high level.   [player_tooltip player_id='2634180' first='Braxton' last='Niedermeier']   Niedermeier, a 5'9" guard from Connecticut that plays at New Canaan, is a good athlete that makes plays within the flow of an offense. A capable ball-handler, he does a nice job of not over dribbling, makes crisp passes on the perimeter, and cuts hard to the rim after he gets rid of the ball. As a scorer, he has the ability to make shots from behind the arc and also shows some creativity as a scorer around the rim. Defensively, he moves his feet well and uses his athleticism to keep opponents in front of him and out of the paint.   [player_tooltip player_id='2832778' first='Christian' last='Figueroa']   Figueroa, a 5'9" guard from Dexter Southfield, plays with a great feel for the game and the ability to create for others. The lefty has deep range on his jumper and already shows the ability to get it off by creating space with his dribble. While he does a nice job as a shooter, he is also a crafty finisher in the paint, utilizing euro-steps and floaters to finish over size. He plays with good pace, changes speeds when needed, and does a nice job of finding cutters for easy baskets at the rim.   [player_tooltip player_id='2723333' first='Kingstan' last='Scannell']   Scannell, a 5'10" guard from the Hopkins School, has made a reputation as a big time shooter. He keeps the ball high on the catch and has a compact stroke, allowing him to quickly get his shot off in catch and shoot situations. He does a great job of moving without the basketball, runs off screens on the baseline to get open, and gets his feet square to the hoop on the catch. He gives good effort on the defensive end of the floor and plays with a high motor on the glass.   [player_tooltip player_id='2832790' first='Mason' last='Brodsky']   Brodsky, a 5'9" guard from Connecticut that plays at Ridgefield, stands out with his talents on the offensive end of the floor. A gifted shooter, he has a fluid release and the ability to get his jumper off with little space. He moves well without the basketball, knows how to run off screens to get open, and is a capable shooter off the catch or the bounce. He makes good decisions with the ball in his hands and has the ability to make plays out of ball screens.   Later this week we'll take a look at the Combo Guards!
