Lonestar State Showdown: 13U Gamechangers

When certain players step on the floor, you can feel their impact in multiple ways. They lift their team up with their hustle, heart, and determination. The group of student athletes below fit that description to a tee.    Dillon is a lengthy, dominant player that can cause havoc for the opposition in plenty of ways. He's a great ballhandler and can stack buckets in a hurry when he's feeling it - which is common. He has the ability to create his own offense off the dribble or drive aggressively and kick to an open teammate if he sees they have a better look at the basket. His length comes in handy on defense as he constantly disrupts his opponents by stuffing and altering their shot attempts. He can take it coast to coast if need be and he's a fantastic passer, often lobbing it half the length of the court with pinpoint precision. You can tell he trusts his guys by the way he distributes and he has sneaky hands that can pile up steals quickly. Sherman is showing massive potential and I only expect it to get bigger.     Kavion is a gritty, smart point guard that makes his whole team better with how he performs on both ends of the floor. He's a defensive stopper that's not afraid to press his man and stay in front of them for the length of the court. He's coachable - saw him communicating directly with his coach on the sideline multiple times while he was on the floor. He can heave a full court pass with Brady-like accuracy and he always knows where his guys are. He has good hands that can reach without fouling and dislodge the rock if he's not stealing it entirely. He always knows where his assignment is on defense and he's the last one on his squad to give up any sort of easy bucket. Washington is going to make plenty of noise going forward and I'm excited to see it.     Danger is a sneaky, fearless forward that can snatch the ball away from his opponents and pick off passing lanes like no other. He's skilled at drawing contact on the drive and this enables him to get to the charity stripe with regularity. He shows no hesitation on either end of the floor - whether that's driving strong to the hoop on offense or guarding the opponent's best player on the defensive end. He's a nice passer and he identifies his streakers with good opportunities incredibly well. He puts in work on the glass on both ends of the floor and gets his team second and third-chance opportunities in the process. Myers represents his name well - a true Danger to the opposing squad.     Jaxson is a quick, energetic point guard that can pass the rock with laser-like accuracy and set his teammates up for easy buckets all game long. He's a flash down the floor with impressive speed and great vision to find his guys. He moves well without the ball and knows how to get to his favorite spots on the floor. He can break ankles with his crossover and he's got great hands and control on the drive. He's always hustling and seems to have a non-stop motor on both ends of the court. He's skilled at deflecting and snatching the ball without fouling and he creates a ton of problems for the opposition by doing so. Carroll is a high-impact player that will only improve from here and the attention will follow.     Donivin is a crafty, efficient player that can handle the ball incredibly well and consistently holds his head high with a true next play mentality. He's a nice passer and mixes it up based on the look of the defense - overhead, bounce, chest, side-arm, underhand, you name it. He's always the first back on defense and he's got a true rapport with his teammates shown through always offering them help on both ends of the floor in trap situations. He's skilled at creating space with his body to either get open or gain enough leverage to gather and shoot for big buckets. He's eager to lead the charge down the floor for his squad and he does so resiliently. Tatum is going to continue to put in the work and develop and he has the potential to turn a ton of heads in the process.
