One skill that college coaches will always covet is perimeter shooting and when you add some size, it becomes even more wanted.

has those qualities and after a solid senior season displaying these at Tigard, it has earned him a spot at the next level. On Wednesday, the 6-foot-3 wing announced that he'll be attending Porterville College in California to begin his career at the next level and he's chomping at the bit to get started.
"I believe that Porterville is the best place for me because of the coaching and the environment that they portrayed while I was on the visit," The head coach “Coach Wallace” wants to see me excel beyond Porterville and ultimately I chose Porterville because of the culture that they have going over there right now."
If you're not familiar with Porterville, it's located in at the base of the Southern Sierra Nevada mountains and is close to Sequoia National Forest. The Pirates play in the competitive Central Valley Conference and young head coach Kyle Wallace has been establishing his program the past couple of years. He and Cichy connected after seeing the guard play on tape this past season at Tigard, one where he garnered Second Team All-TRL honors while averaging 9.5 points and shooting over 35 percent from three-point range.
Cichy feels he'll be able to contribute right away with his shooting ability - he hit 2.6 threes per game last season - but understands there's work ahead. "Porterville's style of play fits the best for me I believe because of the actions and the constant movement flow," Cichy said. "They run a lot of flares and handoffs. I believe that for me to keep excelling in the game I need to just get (my) release and footwork quicker to constantly get my shot off with the increased level of speed and athleticism."
With his commitment in the books Cichy is all set for the future but at the same time, he can look back on the past of perseverance with pride and gratitude. "This season and my high school career was a roller coaster for sure and a lot of downs but in the end I think that it ultimately shaped who I am today and helped our team accomplish what we did," Cichy said. "We started the year 0-2 but then we found something during that 10 game stretch of us going 8-2, that pushed us into the playoffs. I will always remember the friendships and bonds that were created and the life lessons that made me who I am today."
Our congratulations go out to Cichy and his family on his commitment.
