<p><strong>Key Stat</strong>: St. Michael's has won many games this season with their full-court suffocating defense and Wednesday it worked again. Navajo Prep was forced into 27 turnovers and the Horsemen defense was credited with 14 steals. </p>

<p><strong>How It Happened</strong>: The key moment in the game came with 4:30 left in the fourth quarter when Nez, undoubtedly Navajo Prep's top offensive weapon, fouled out. At the time, Navajo Prep led, 43-40. They never scored again. St. Michael's , which had trailed, 43-38, shortly before Nez fouled out, scored the final 22 points of the game to pull out the win in a game that was much closer than the final score indicates.</p>

<p><strong>Standout Players</strong>: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2818687' first='Jesse' last='James Gonzales']</strong> scored 19 points, many coming on slashing drives to the basket, and 6-foot-6 sophomore <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2216707' first='Nathan' last='Gonzales']</strong> registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Robertson past crosstown rival West Las Vegas. Freshman <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2714561' first='George' last='Smith']</strong> had 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2819584' first='Ethan' last='Tafoya']</strong> scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds for WLV. </p>

<p><strong>Key Stat</strong>: Robertson's defense keyed the victory for the Cardinals. They forced 21 turnovers from West Las Vegas (15 steals) and held the Dons to 1-for-10 from 3-poinst range. Robertson made 4 3-pointers and that proved to be the difference in the game. </p>

<p><strong>How It Happened</strong>: Robertson led wire-to-wire. They jumped out to an 8-2 lead after 3-1/2 minutes of action and never trailed. It was 16-8 after the 1<sup>st</sup> quarter and WLV never got closer than 6 points after that. The lead grew to double digits by halftime (33-21) and staye that way for most of the second half. Robertson pushed the lead to 16 (41-25) with a 6-0 run midway through the third quarter before WLV managed to cut the lead to 9 early in the fourth quarter before two free throws and a layup by [player_tooltip player_id='2818687' first='Jesse' last='James Gonzales'] pulled the Cardinals out of danger. </p>

<p><strong>Standout Players</strong>: Sophomore <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2833709' first='Dontrey' last='Callado'] </strong>scored 16 points, 10 on free throws, to lead four scorers in double figures as SFIS upset No. 3 seed Tularosa. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2818740' first='Kenyen' last='Callado'] </strong>scored 13 points and connected on three 3-pointers. <strong>Ohitika Martin</strong> scored 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for the Braves. Tohatchi, which lost for just the fourth time this season, was led by <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2684834' first='Josh' last='Dawes']</strong> with 13 points and <strong>Adriano Begay </strong>with 12. </p>

<p><strong>Key Stat</strong>: The SFIS defense held Tohatchi to 32.7 percent shooting, including just 26.7 percent (8-30) in the second half. Tohatchi committed 18 turnovers. </p>

<p><strong>How It Happened</strong>: Tohatchi led, 16-15, after the 1<sup>st</sup> quarter before the SFIS defense kicked in. SFIS outscored Tohatchi, 26-16, in the middle two periods to take a 41-32 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Braves held on in the fourth quarter to secure the win.</p>

<p><strong>How It Happened</strong>: Six-foot-5 sophomore forward [player_tooltip player_id='2834017' first='Wesley' last='Harrigan'] grabbed a loose ball in the lane and converted a layup with 2 seconds left to lift Bosque past Tularosa. Bosque built an early double digit lead in the first quarter before Tularosa steadily began to climb back. The Wildcats took their first lead of the game at 35-32 on a 3-pointer midway through the 3<sup>rd</sup> quarter. Bosque, though, recovered to take a 39-36 lead after 3 quarters. A 3-pointer by Tularosa cut Bosque's lead to 41-40 early in the 4Q. But a 5-point spurt by Bosque, capped by a 3-pointer, gave them a 46-40 lead. Pair of 3-pointers by each team made it 49-46 with 1:13 left. A 3-pointer by Tularosa with 26 seconds left tied the score, setting the stage for Harrigan's heroics.</p>
