Unsung hero may seem like a strange label since Hutson led the team in scoring in the title gam, but I think it still fits. Without his grit and defense in the semifinals, East Lansing may not have advanced. He was critical in that game in areas that may not have shown up on the stat sheet.

Speaking of defense. Branson was huge in his team's state championship run. He played some solid perimeter defense against some of the most talented guards in the state over the 2 tournament games. Branson played D with quickness, speed and energy.

Dennis played in typical Dennis style, especially in the semifinals. His game doesn't necessarily show up in numbers, but I think he puts in a next level effort in other areas. Dennis was a stabilizing force under the rim in the round of 4. He plays a selfless role and he played it perfectly in the semifinal win.

Another name that may seem strange in an unsung heroes article. Yes, he's flat out one of the best guards in the state. In the semifinals, he saw the matchups that were most effective for his Wayne Memorial team and he looked to feed those matchups, to the tune of 4 assists. In the title game, Allen shared the role of leading scorer.

White was a key player for Carman-Ainsworth in the semifinals. With his height, length and athleticism, Wayne Memorial had to be constantly aware of him. He was his team's best threat in the paint. White finished the game with 8 points and 4 rebounds.

Savoury was a big reason that OLSM had a lead early and were close throughout. He had a strength advantage and he used if more than effectively on 50-50 balls and on the glass. Savoury did everything that he could to set a tone of toughness for his team. He finished with 8 points and 6 boards, 4 of them on the offensive end.
